I'd give a positive as I have a major soft spot for this game despite its age and flaws compared to its successors, but it's so insanely unstable and crashes so often on modern hardware that I can't give it a positive.10 found this helpful
If I could I would refund all my Paradox games.10 found this helpful
I really loved this game as a kid. Unfortunately it is unplayable now due to constant crashes.8 found this helpful
I’ve played Crusader Kings 2 and wanted to try the original to see where the series started. But it definitely shows its age. There’s not much reason to play this over CK2 or CK3, unless you’re just curious. As an older game, it lacks many of the quality-of-life features that came later. The menu isn’t very intuitive, and a lot of important information is hard to find, which makes it harder to play.8 found this helpful
Crusader Kings aged like milk I gave it like 20 minutes, tried to get into it, and it just felt like fighting menus, clunky systems, and zero clarity on what the hell is going on. mot even the fun kind of complex, just confusing and rough. i get that it was important back then, cool, respect that. but playing it now? nah, I’m good. 20 minutes was more than enough. 3/10, straight to the graveyard.2 found this helpful

Developed by Paradox Development Studio and published by Paradox Interactive, this Complete edition bundles the original Crusader Kings with its major expansion, presenting a dense and uncompromising portrayal of medieval Europe that prioritizes dynastic survival, feudal politics, and human unpredictability over clean mechanics or immediate accessibility. Even years after its release, it remains an important and distinctive experience for players interested in deep historical strategy. Rather than placing the player in direct control of a nation-state, Crusader Kings Complete centers everything around a ruling dynasty. You play as the head of a noble house, responsible not only for territorial expansion but for marriages, heirs, titles, and personal relationships that define medieval power. Every character is more than a statistic; rulers have traits, loyalties, ambitions, and flaws that influence how they govern and how others perceive them. A brilliant but cruel king may expand rapidly only to trigger rebellion, while a weak r…1 found this helpful
