About Curse of the Assassin
You’ve risen through society after dealing with Eltane and saving the city, capturing the affections of the Duke’s daughter along the way. The mysterious death of a friend arouses your suspicions and once again you find yourself at the heart of conspiracy that takes you back to your home village and a meeting with your old adventuring party from your youth.
Curse of the Assassin is a gamebook where you control the story by deciding what action to take at key points. Use dice to determine your vitality, fitness and luck, then battle solo and with companions as you take on enemies within Orlandes... both familiar and new.
Featuring full colour artwork by Pirkka Harvala and a soundtrack by Adrian Watkins, this mystery adventure thriller races from Orlandes City through to the wilds of Orlandes, into the mines of Kern Badenach and even out to sea!
Gameplay: 4/10

Graphics & Sound: 4/10

Narration: 6/10
This is just a follow-up for An Assassin in Orlandes, so expect more of the same. If you enjoyed the first game, this one should suit you just fine. If you didn't, like me, well you should look elsewhere. The writing is arguably a bit better here, but overall the core remains the same, with the same oldschool awkwardness, the same UX issues, and the same repetitive and annoying background music. I managed to endure the first game until the end, but I wouldn't recommend any of those.1 found this helpful
The sequel to the first Gamebook Adventure
This book is a sequel to the good first Gamebook Adventure story, An Assassin in Orlandes and while the first was a very simple and a straight forward book, this one is huge. If you know about Fighting Fantasy books, this is almost the same type, "go left, turn to paragraph 120 / go up, turn to 332 / search the bodies, go to 24", just the fighting is different, more dice you have the more damage/blocking you can do. Compared to the other 2 gamebooks available, I felt this one buggier, sometimes I end up with only one dice for fighting (instead of the amount I should have thanks to my weapon) which was fixed only by quitting/restarting the app. The story is good, intriguing even but the paragraphs are crazy long. I felt like I read War and Peace over and over at the end of the run. Unlike other gamebooks, there's not much dungeon crawling and it's more like exploring. It's not too hard (except the battles) and there's actually many different ways to attain the happy ending. I recommend it to die hard fan of the Gamebook genre (and obviously fans of the Gamebook Adventure series), I don't recommend it to newcomer though, as th…1 found this helpful
A great non-linear story-sequel to the Assassin in Orlandes. It's hard to believe but just text + some pictures can make you feel worried for your character and his survival. Especially with only so many save bookmarks1 found this helpful
Curse of the Assassin, developed and published by Tin Man Games, is an interactive gamebook that blends traditional fantasy storytelling with light RPG mechanics, offering a deeply immersive, narrative-driven experience. As a continuation of An Assassin in Orlandes, it invites players to return to a familiar world now under threat from dark forces once more. The story begins on a deceptively quiet note—your character, now elevated in status and enjoying a comfortable life, is suddenly thrust back into danger following the mysterious death of an old friend. What follows is a compelling tale of political intrigue, supernatural danger, and moral choice, set against a richly imagined fantasy backdrop. The game is structured as a digital choose-your-own-adventure story, where most of the action plays out through reading and decision-making. This format relies heavily on written narrative, and Curse of the Assassin excels in this area. The writing is detailed and evocative, with a tone that balances classic high fantasy with moments of suspense and personal introspection. The choices presented to the player frequently carry significant weight, affecting the storyline, relationships with…
This is a fun, replayable gamebook. There are three major paths through the game, combat is challenging but fair, and there is a lot to learn. If you want your children to read more, buy then this game.
