great rpg especially if u like old school style

I wanted to like the game. But it has way too many issues. 1. Horrible controls. Like using function keys instead of simple, regular keyboard keys. You can remap but...why was this the default? 2. Monster drops are often "glitter" on the ground. You have to hunt it with the mouse, right click, and then you can select what to get. It was strange, didn't bother me at first, but the tenth or so enemy I became rather frustrated with the hunt and click process. 3. Tiny inventory system. Barely anything stacks. And you will fill it constantly. I have a feeling this game was designed to be an MMO where they sell you bags for real money to increase inventory space. 4. Very few skills. I was figuring a game like this would have a lot of them. It has like 10. 5. Scaling is horrible. It really is hard telling if you will be able to take down an enemy or not. Its level isn't a real indicator.

If I could put "Maybe" instead of "Yes" or "No", I would. As an OSRS enjoyer, Black Grimoire scratches the RuneScape itch for me, but it still has a lot of issues that get in the way of enjoying the game. For presenting as a low-poly game with pretty minimal effects, it runs much worse than you'd expect. Expect to be CPU limited most of the time, especially if you want to play at a high refresh rate. There is a persistent traversal stutter as you run through the world. It's very common for me to have 1% lows in the single-digits. [*] There aren't enough options to make the leveling grind tolerable. Even as someone who enjoys OSRS, the grind is excessive. One of the main mitigations for a game as grindy as RuneScape is the sheer breadth of options. Black Grimoire doesn't have nearly the same variety of training options/methods, which makes the grind all the more apparent. It would be a lot more tolerable if you could swap between a few viable methods at any given point, but the game simply just doesn't have that much content. [*] Gaps in progression. Granted,…

Just what is says on the tin. An old-school, low poly, high grind runescape type game. It's perfect for coming down from a long day, with low-key activities like mining copper ore to craft fresh gear, or hunting 100 rats for an achievement. If you've never played runescape, it's the opposite of fast paced, basically designed to lower your heart rate, and help you relax. Very recommended.

I am afraid that I must give this game a negative review. It has been out for 2 years now. In all of that time they have not addressed that keybinds for controls become unbound. If you use arrow keys for example instead of WASD those binds you make will work for a short time. Quit the game and come back in, the keybinds for movement ONLY become unbound. All the rest of the keybinds remain. Use your teleport home ability (called homecoming) and your movement keybinds come unbound. Idle in the game for 5-10 minutes... your movement keybinds become unbound. If this dev cared about the game, they would fix keybinds, movement or not to mention something as signifigant as both issues combined but no. This is just another cash grab laugh all the way to the bank developer who does not care about you or the game. It's cheap. It's mildly entertaining. But should you give your cash to the people responsible for this? Aren't you people getting tired of being ripped off by people who think you are a joke? I wish you the best. To get a good rating a game, at a minimum, should be fun most of the time. This game is a SLOG... too much farming, and this from a player who appreciates farming to a degree. If you play this game you will spend MANY HOURS chopping trees and mining just to progress in the game. for example between "Bramblewood" and "Winterpine" there are ten levels and every time a chop a log you'll get one percent progression. Do the math. Mining is only a little better. Tailoring is and crafting get frustrating about lvl 40 of 100. Honestly, unless you enjoy farming most of the time with a bit of story in between this game isn't for you
