About DCR: Drive.Crash.Repeat

What is the game?

DCR: Drive.Crash.Repeat is a retro style, ludicrous auto-forward driving game with an amazing twist, and absolutely no brakes! Drive your way through tens of handcrafted levels (to the extent that each level has its own name), across different atmospheric worlds!

What genre is it?

This game is a fusion of classical puzzle and platformer elements with drifting/driving mechanics, an original concept not done before! Game is crazy addictive and fun!

Why is it fun?

Because it looks easy, but it is so hard! Trying to beat a level over and over again will eventually get you there however! The game has an "Oh, I've figured it out!" moment almost at every curve in every level! Then what seemed so hard before becomes easy! And that's where the fun is!

Each level has a twist; your ultimate objective is to reach the end zone, before your time ends, and without crashing while the car is involuntarily driving forward, by strategizing your every turn! Also to find the crafty hidden objects. Explore multiple alternative paths and different solutions for each level! Collect enough stars and objects to unlock bonus levels in this addictive and challenging game.

D.C.R is a thrilling experience for casual, but even more so, for hardcore gamers! Beat the learning curve and become a master! Play against your ghost or our 3 star ghosts to enhance your time! Beat through the levels in sequence or skip ahead.

Driving and crashing has never been this fun! An experience that will grow on you as you get to explore vivid retro style environments and mouthwatering mechanics that span over 45 levels in 3 different worlds!

Features:

 • The hardest-car-game-in-the-world!
 • 3 atmospheric worlds, 45 hand-crafted levels and 3 impossible bonus levels
 • 135 optional secretly hidden objects!
 • Crazy fun! Multiple solutions per level!
 • Simple to learn, hard to master, impossible to put down!

Localization:

 • French
 • German
 • Simplified Chinese
 • Russian
 • Italian
 • Turkish
 • Spanish
 • Arabic
 • Portuguese-Brazil

So, how many car crashes did it take to compile the promo video?

Luckily, there is an in-game counter to tell us exactly that! And the number is 3,722 times! Yeah, we drive.crash.repeated 3,722 times just to capture this video! So, if you think the game is easy, think again!

Really sad that only a few people played this game in the years it's been on Steam. It's actually surprisingly good and a lot of fun. Nice level design with hidden items and shortcuts. You have to replay each level many times to find the right paths and gather the items and I've had fun in each of my attempts so far. Definitely worth the low price. The last two levels of world 1 have only ever been finished by me and another person which was quite shocking to see. So please, if you read this, give the game a try and beat my scores. This game deserves to be played a lot more. I still am far from completing. There are 3 worlds with 15 levels and one bonus level each. A total of 48 levels to Drive, Crash and Repeat. Difficulty varies from tolerable to pure insanity. Not suggested for completionists since this will become a frustrating task.

"DCR Drive.Crash.Repeat" by Tarboosh Games is a game that lives up to its name in every sense of the words.
GRAPHICS:
Graphics are 8-bit style with the option of using fullscreen, windowed and if you want, scan lines on or not. Those are the only real options you are given for graphics options. The graphics remind me of another car game from the 1980's called "Spy Hunter". There are some animated objects such as birds, oh, and the occasional car trying to slam into you. No complaints about the graphics as they serve their purpose and just about any computer should be able to run this.
SOUND:
Audio is also reminiscent of 1980's 8-bit chiptune era with funky style music playing and appropriate clunky sounding crash and car effects. Get used to the crash sound, as you will be hearing it a lot.
GAMEPLAY:
The simplistic driving game is played from a top-down perspective and the player is given very simple controls to get their vehicle to navigate the streets. Left and Right to steer and Spacebar to boost. Scattered throughout the level are various hidden objects and bonuses. To Win, get to the finish line without hitting anything. The fas…

Being a huge fan of the first Steam game released by this developer and publisher Tarboosh games, I was excited when the developer reached out and offered me a key for this new challenging driving game. After playing this new game for a bit and crashing more times than I care to admit.. I must confess that I just don't find this DCR: Drive.Crash.Repeat nearly as much fun to play as the original "Escape: Close Call" that launched back in March of 2016. Escape Close Call recieved a whopping 96% score from me back then and was easily one of my highest rated indie diamonds for that year. You can check that highly recommended game out HERE: https://store.steampowered.com/app/448380/Escape_Close_Call/ With DCR: Drive.Crash.Repeat, the name certainly holds true. You will crash and crash a LOT especially if you start trying to set one of the top three fastest time scores on Steam for each level. There is only boost and controls to steer your car as you attempt to cross the finish line on each level as quickly as possible, but one crash and it's back to the starting line for you. This game definitely shows that a ton of work and time was put into creating each level and that is wh…

DCR: Drive.Crash.

I got a beta key some time ago. But later this games didn't appear when I tried to find it via store page. Now I found that it was finally released and thanks to developers my beta key wasn't revoked and I was able to play. I can say that it's a really hardcore game. I tried to pass levels dozens of times. And there always more than one way to finish. Visual style is nice and simple. With many details it doesn't look like some kind of trash games. So if you're ready to strain yourself, this game is for you. 7/10
