About Defender's Quest: Valley of the Forgotten (DX edition)
Defend your party against waves of enemies in real-time tower defense battles where each character levels up, learns skills, and equips gear to match your tactical strategy. It's a story-driven RPG hybrid packed with customization options, adjustable game speed, and pause-able commands that puts tactical depth and accessibility front and center.
The battle system builds off of tower defense, with individual characters taking the place of towers. Each character levels-up, learns skills, and equips gear individually, allowing the player to customize their battle experience and strategy. The overall game structure is similar to "tactical" RPG's, but with a real-time battle system. Game speed is adjustable, and commands can even be issued while the game is paused.
It also features an engaging, character-driven story written by an actual English major! The story strives to be fast-paced, snappy, and always relevant to gameplay with minimal exposition. Finally, it's got options and accessibility settings out the wazoo, so that you can have the best possible experience!

I am really enjoying this Tower Defense TD game. The Heroes and Writing feel great. Do know there are some random bug issues (like hiring heroes and their appearance changing) or random crashes. The latter little more annoying, but unless doing an endless run the game autosaves frequently enough you shouldn't lose progress. Side note, be sure to READ THE JOURNAL. I didn't think the game was particularly good or bad. Steam doesn't allow neutral reviews, so I decided to not recommend the game because there wasn't really anything memorable or impactful about the game. I consider feeling indifferent about a game to be a negative thing. Nothing unique or different. I didn't care for the writing. I don't really care for custom-created NPCs in RPGs. Perhaps bland is the best word to describe my feelings about the game.
Addictive and challenging but fair throughout. I got this on sale and wasn't expecting much but it ended up being a blast. Highly recommended.
Shows it's age a bit, but still a great little progressive TD
pretty, pretty good
Simple, but fun. Surprisingly for me the highlight was the story, it's not that complex but is engaging enough. Wholeheartedly recommend.
