If you like other tower defense games with monkeys and balloons, you'll love this fun spin on the genre! With a wide assortment of hand-crafted maps and towers, its sure to keep the fun and excitement alive all the way through. It's easily worth the 5$, boasting multiple heroes and perks to choose from. The most challenging level, The Tower of Zog, poses the most ruthless threat to date. You need just the right strategy, and more importantly determination, to perfect it. I'm certain only 1 in 100 can take on THE Zog challenge and come away with 3 stars. 9/10 game, especially for the price.3 found this helpful
"Defenders of Asteria" is a very badly (but at least genuinely) made low poly barebones tower defense game that probably would have done better on mobile app stores. It works, I guess, but it's clunky, un-fun, has bad graphics... it's just not quite there compared to games like Sanctum and Orcs Must Die. What do you do in the game? It's a tower defense game. You put down towers and watch them kill laughably low quality monster assets. In terms of visuals, this features fairly low quality low poly 3D visuals which will deter a lot of gamers, understandably. Gaming is a visual medium, and while some developers struggle with creating high quality visuals, failing to do so is a disservice to gamers. It's very difficult to recommend bad looking games. It's free... now, but it wasn't before. The developer was charging $5 USD for this. Price barriers, especially on low quality products, can be a direct cause of failure. It's a nice gesture for the game to be given away for free, but it also tells us that the game wasn't good enough to succeed as a paid product. Even though this is "free", it failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked …1 found this helpful
Achievements don't work properly - you can fail and you'll get achievement for 3 stars. Some of levels are too hard even with bought perks. I'm not fan of tower defense and this one certainly wasn't good.
Not much of a game, but it all works, and the developer seems to be active and responsive, so I can give this one a thumbs up. On the plus side, the music is good, and there is variety in the maps of which there are a reasonable amount. There is a hero system, though you can only have one on the map at any time. Their are ten or eleven towers depending on the level type, the tower that generates money not being an option is some modes. There are flying units, for a bit of variety, and some variety in the towers abilities. On the negative side, there is no campaign mode or story, nothing to draw you into the process. The levels have names that imply there is a story, but apparently it is a secret. The tower upgrades are bland, with only one tower type offering a split, everything else being straight up. The models seem quite interesting, but the game view really doesn't let you see them. There was at least one unit I didn't know was flying, because the top down view didn't show me they don't (I assume) have feet. In all honesty, if this were it's final form, it would get a negative review, but I am hoping the developer is still working on bringing things up to speed. Yes, perhaps …
"X Marks the Spot" and "The Oasis" Levels are the most difficult. The raid level was hard from level 19 to 21. The game is fun and was interesting figuring out. Quick play is different from Raids which was nice. Needs to scale better with difficulty. didn't build anything after level 42 on raid and got to level 100 with full health.
