Defense Cards

Defense Cards is a small arcade game that takes the idea of bullet hell shooting and mixes it with card management. Instead of simply holding down a button and firing constantly, I have to drag cards into play to release different barrages and skills while enemies keep coming towards me. I liked the idea because it gives a very simple shooting game a little more strategy than I expected. The card system is easily my favourite part. Every card uses points when I activate it, so I cannot just spam everything whenever I want. I have to think about which cards are worth using and when I should save my points for a more dangerous wave. Some cards focus on basic attacks while others provide stronger skills, and learning how to combine them is what makes the runs more interesting for me. I also like the random upgrades during a run. As I continue fighting, I can receive new skill cards and improve my options while dealing with increasingly difficult enemies. This gives each attempt a slightly different feeling because I do not always end up with exactly the same collection of abilities.
