Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor is an anti-adventure game about picking up trash in an alien bazaar. Play as the Janitor, an Alaensee girlbeast with a municipally-subsidized trash incineration job and dreams of leaving the planet of Xabran's Rock far behind her.
Explore the Spaceport! Navigate the maze of alleyways, side streets, plazas, and bridges as you search for discarded items to burn. Investigate one of various entrances to the mysterious subterranean sewerdungeon, or climb the ominously symmetrical Ziggurat to get a better view of the urban landscape! If you pay attention and keep track of landmarks, you won't get lost... probably.
Embrace routine! Spend your days cleaning up litter, finding food, and testing your luck at lottoshrines scattered throughout the area. Daily tasks form the backbone of your life as the Janitor, providing structure and monotonous security in an uncertain world! Do not deviate from your routine. Pray, work, eat, sleep. Do not deviate from your routine.
Suffer the Curse! Stick your scentflaps where you shouldn't, and you may just walk away with an ancient cranial entity haunting your every waking moment! Consult local Necresses, pray to the Nine Goddesses, purchase ritual objects, and rub the giant sword to balance your personal luck favorably! Maybe that will make the whispering stop!

Its a great game overall its just such a wasted potential of including gender politics in this. Im sorry but if in a sci-fi setting therers no cure for this stupid "mechanicks" of "needing" to genderswapp is totally ruins the wibe of the game. Makes you lose money constantly buying drugs like i couknt live withouth it in real life, let alone in game, and worst of all, it ads zero content arround it other than being annoying. Im sad that this game has to be incuding this stupid idealogy when i just want to enjoy the wibes. Now i see why not many pepole playd this game.2 found this helpful
Audio is horribly loud! I have a headphone amp and turned it to low gain and set the in game audio settings to as low as possible. It was still loud!1 found this helpful

I think it would benefit a lot with some more qol features. A separate button to insta-pickup & incinerate for example. And a map would've been nice. Pretty chill game though. 6/10
I beat this game on my third attempt. The first two attempts I quit after getting frustrated at the tedium of the game, the uncomfortable feeling of the curses scream, the disorienting visuals. Yet something kept drawing me back and I think that it finally clicked. This game is about being trapped in life. You're a loser so deep in the hole that your only focus is making a quick dollar to try and inch towards the goal of getting back to zero. Among the never ending vomit you glimpse a cool item which hints at a quest you might one day do. The bigger and rarer the item the more you might trick yourself into thinking you might have access to something slightly cooler than this. That ain't your life though. You're a loser. The only hope to not be a loser was the games ending, so I pressed on. Getting their was an exercise in breaking free from tedium by going through it. Beating it made me feel invigorated but I will never touch it again. I don't think this game is for everyone but if you fancy odd flavors this is a sinkhole to explore.
There's something special about this game that makes me smile even now, eight years after playing it for the first time. Your life is hard in this game, not just because you're perpetually broke and hungry. The city layout is horribly confusing, you have to watch out for cops, and it seems like everyone else in this spaceport has some grand and exciting quest that you'll never get to participate in. But it's worth it to learn the patterns of life here: pray to whatever goddesses you find, leave offerings when you can, eat at only the cheapest places. On the bad days, your diary is there for you at the end of the day to vent. On the good days, you can find treasure in the trash. Give it a try. There's something special in this game that I haven't found since.
