so this is essentially just a stripped down doom clone with procedurally generated levels and a coomerbait character, you've got a pistol and a shotgun and three dashes and you go around killing reskinned pinkies, imps and pistol dudes and looting chests. you can't customise the appearance of your character, which is different from what's shown in promotional images on the steam store page, but you can slightly recolour your weapons. the weapon and player mods seem really minor and you really don't get a choice of them anyway since you only get one loot drop per level along with a reskin colour??? if you really want to play the first two levels of doom over and over again with a giant ass in your face then go ahead but i wanted to play all the levels of doom with greater weapon variety AND a giant ass in my face and in this i am disappointed

Dimension Drifter is an Abandoned Early Access console-esque third person shooter in a not dissimilar vein to Duke Nuke'm in terms of outright action shooting (as well as the usual find the key, flip the switch, open the door level design). While there's a few bells and whistles to differentiate this from 1992's DooM, like a levelling system and upgradeable weapons, otherwise the gameplay is exceedingly shallow. While it looks decent thanks to Unreal, there's some ugly postprocessing that makes everything look blurry. Gameplay itself is highly clunky and unpolished. The game bizarrely is done in third person view, despite never making it to consoles. Third person view is favoured by console devs because console gamers become confused, angry and afraid if they can't see their avatar on screen. The game was abandoned around 1 year after launch (around the time the developer had made their commitment to finish the game). The game hasn't been updated in several years. This doesn't stop the developer trying to scam gamers out of a whopping $13 USD for a game they will never finish. Got it for free, tried it out years ago. To be honest, it's not too bad of a time killer. I do wish there were more weapon options / customization options earlier on, but it's not a major issue.

This game is like cotton candy: The flavor is intense and sweet at first, though it quickly dissolves and fades to nothing in seconds.
