Dissolution of the Silent Union

I drained my vodka while playing this (and still continue while writing this ngl) so I sure as hell am not the right person to provide an objective review but wwoww, this felt intense and sad and I genuinely have no idea what even happened. Despite still being unsure what this game attempts to express (besides the Soviet Union and yuri?? #real) I feel like the fact that I bursted out crying from some heavy existential crisis midway through which I don't even remember anymore speaks enough on how I felt about it lol!! I'll do my best, firstly, the presentation is stunning- the cute art and animations combined with nostalgic photographs and other dark ♥♥♥♥ are very atmospheric and simply something I love to see in games. Then the music, especially the classical-inspired pieces highly resonated with me (that one soundtrack made me so aaaaaaa) and I found them beautifulll. Now onto the story itself- what is it about??? Short but really powerful. Enjoyed this immensely. And try as I might I can't explain to you why. But definitely a favorite, even if that group isn't like super exclusive.

Dissolution of the Silent Union is a short psychological visual novel that uses an ordinary school setting as the foundation for something increasingly surreal and uncomfortable. Developed and published by Umigame Studios, it follows Vera during what should be the final day of school, only for her surroundings and memories to become tangled in a strange recurring experience. At the center of the story is her connection with another girl, with their deteriorating relationship reflected through an environment that gradually feels less stable and more detached from reality. Rather than relying on constant scares or obvious threats, the game creates tension through isolation and uncertainty. Empty corridors, quiet classrooms, unusual transitions, glitches, and other visual anomalies make familiar locations feel strangely hostile. There is an effective sense that something is wrong even when nothing immediately dangerous is happening. It was a really beautiful short story about letting go. The game is split to 7 endings that you are meant to get individually and in a somewhat of a sequential manner. After an ending you are thrown back to the start menu, restarting will give you new options, once you exhaust your options the game will start you at next point where your choices do matter, which makes the game feel like it respects your time. I do think the game's demo (and first 4 endings) do not do justice to how good the last 3 endings are. Visually Dissolution of the Silent Union is phenomenal, I am in love with its art style. I do think using actual pictures was an odd choice as each scene feels somewhat disconnected due to it (I assume the first 4 endings and last 3 endings were developed separately?). However the drawings esspecially the animations and the ending 7 were beautiful. Genuinely you could frame the ending 7 on a museum. Aside from the main music game tends to loop, every other song in its OST was either decent or pretty good. There was a bug (I think?) that did sour my experience however. A very interesting experience. I will be totally honets with you, I don't fully understand what was going on in the latter parts of story, but it got very existential. It is a good short exerience to go through in a single sitting of around an hour or two. The visuals were interestig, blending real world photos with the animesque characters.
