DRAGON: A Game About a Dragon

Alright let's figure out how to spin this positively, shall we? That's my whole schtick anyway. :P There is a big heart in this game. If you need your gameplay to gameplay, ahahaha skip this. It's clunky and slow and will frustrate so many of you and already has from the the mixed reviews this has gotten. Still though, there are a lot of elements that shine here and if you have the patience to slog through (it's not that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ long even) you will find charm, humour and a foundation that isn't half bad. If a second game from this dev were to ever bless us, I do believe it would be even better because at least to me, it's obvious they have a really good idea of how to tell a story and just need a bit more practice with medium of mechanics. i was REALLY hoping the reviews were exaggerating about this game being buggy and janky. and for the most part, i still firmly believe they are! i think the hitboxes are all very clear and it's just a matter of being more patient and observant of enemy patterns than most platformers. previously i only ran into one issue where i somehow clipped out of the dragon's house area and had to restart the game to leave since you can't exit levels from the menu. that was totally fine - i was definitely pushing too many buttons at the edge of the screen and that caused something crazy to occur. easy to avoid doing again and doesn't make me lose any progress. HOWEVER, i am running into an issue where i literally cannot start one of the later levels in the game. King's Forest 4 crashes after the opening cutscene no matter what i do. i tried changing some settings, i tried replaying the previous level but from the alternate path... but the game always crashes! it's been a long time since this game released so i don't have much hope for a fix, but if this issue was ever fixed i would come back to this game in a heartbeat because i really was enjoying it! not everyone seems to have this problem…

Mediocre at best, not worth playing.

I don't exactly know what I was expecting when I got this game, but just from the intro alone I knew I was in for a fun and hilarious time. This is a game that is both challenging but still fun and had me cackling but also tearing up slightly during parts of the story. The boss fights did feel a bit all over the place difficulty wise, but in the end I had a good time. The game reminded me of old school side scrollers that were difficult but still had you coming back over and over. I may have a slight bias since I LOVE dragons, but I think this game is a truly underrated gem!

I'll lead with - 2 broken achievments that will likely never be fixed. - for those that care Charming little game that seems a bit confused. The story is a tad older than the gamepaly and as a result it wouldnt land as good as it could with the 12 and under that would really fit the art style, that said i did get a few chuckles. A bit clunky in control but nothing that will hold you back. Its pretty quick and can basicly be cracked out in an afternoon but has a decent amount hidden stuff and even a second ending-ish. I enjoyed my time.
