About Dragon Bobby - The Story of a Life

Dragon Bobby is a uniquely beautiful game with third-person exploration and puzzles that tells the story of a man's life from birth. You control a dragon that is an analogy of this man in the story. A true reflection on life.

Explore a world with beautiful graphics. As the dragon grows, it acquires the ability to explore the world by land, water and air.

A unique game, which in parallel shows the passages of a man's life and the challenges he faces in it. The story makes us reflect on ourselves and our choices and actions.

Key features:
- Explore a world with wonderful landscapes on an exciting Journey
- Solve puzzles and collect hidden memories
- Experience the life story of Bobby, a man represented in the game by a dragon that you control.
- Stunning soundtrack by acclaimed artists
- A game based on exploration, puzzle and narrative games such as "The First Tree", "Spirit of the North", "Lost Ember" and "Journey". If you liked some of these games, you'll love "Dragon Bobby"

- This is an indie game created by a single person. I programmed, did the game design and wrote the story, while my children helped me by testing the gameplay.

Dragon Bobby is a cute looking exploration game which follows the passage of a man's life from birth until old age. It shares his hopes and dreams; pain and suffering; loss and love and the effects and consequences of his choices. It comes across to me as a celebration of life and it is created by a single developer. The man is depicted as a dragon and as the dragon ages, it is able to eventually glide and then fly. I found the movement very smooth on KB & M. As the collectables mount up, you are able to change the skin and eyes of the dragon. As the man's life unfolds, the environnment the dragon is in changes to reflect the emotions. This is mainly a scavenger hunt of a game where you have to find glowing blue orbs which unlock the passage to the next section. You don't need to find them all unless you desire all the achievements. You also have to search for hidden memories....and believe me...they are well hidden and not easy to find. You really have to search every nook and cranny. Along the way, you encounter some light puzzles which unlock gates or collectables. This is not an easy game as a couple of the chapters are quite hard...namely chapter 2 with the maze and c…

I can only give respect to the single dev of this little gem of a game, since creating one in Unreal Engine is, to my knowledge, hard already for a team of people, thus having it be done by a single person is just awe-inspiring. While it does have its share of negativities like: -> the dragon´s slowness (which makes sense as a hatchling, but gets pretty gratifying as an adult) -> a potentially game-breaking bug that causes ???s to not be registered properly when dug up (thank all for Chapter Select!) -> no 100% completion reward (sans the achievement) -> some copyrighted music that doesn´t allow streamers to safely stream it I do need to give it a thumbs-up because of -> its pretty inspiring story (at least if you ask me) -> actual challenge if you´re going for 100% completion (be ready for Chapter 2, seriously!) -> most importantly (to me), absolutely awe-inspiring landscapes that you get to visit and explore -> you´re playing as a dragon. Just that. Overall, it might be comparable to The First Tree when it comes to animal exploration games, but it´s a nice little (as you can see by my game-time; 100% in 10´1 hrs) gem that is having the potential in being so much more. Fingers …

Rewarding exploration as you find out more about a man’s life. This is one of those games that manage to surprise. Despite looking like a platformer, the game has a lot more in common with the walking sim and exploration genre. This becomes obvious the moment you take control of the baby dragon. Since there’s no combat or threats, you could replace it with anything else and the game would remain the same. On the other hand, the reason for playing as a dragon is connected to the story. The game takes you through eleven chapters, each set in a completely different location. The objective in each is to explore and search for glowing orbs. Once you've found enough, you'll be able to unlock the way to the next section of the level or the portal to the next chapter. Finding all orbs is not needed, however it is an activity if you want to grab the game's achievements. Since the game is about exploration, the pace of the game is rather slow. The dragon can jump, but not run. Stages aren't large, but they're also not small, and walking from one end to the other while looking for orbs might be a bit of a nuisance. Furthermore, because there are no dangers in the game, you cannot tumble o…

I got the key for testing the game on Twitch after I applied for it, because the preview already looked so cute. Honestly, my community and I were amazed how great the game is! I had many theories what was going on, I won't spoiler anything now in any way only that I indeed highly recommend the game. Most games I get for testing I would not write any review or at all recommend them, but here clearly thumbs up for Bobby! <3 Love it!
