Dragon's Dilemma

Borgash is a 5,400 year old dragon, and like most males of a certain age, is something of a grumpy old man; although in the wider picture, he's not a bad sort. So, he likes to roast the occasional irritating human. That's not his fault, it's an innate characteristic of his species. Cut him some slack, he has a right to be grumpy after discovering that someone has issued a quest to have him killed for stealing the crown of a dead king... that he is entirely innocent of any part in. The story starts with the player taking the part of our heroic dragon being presented with a scroll displaying this quest by a knight he has just outfought – only to have to put on his spectacles to be able to see it. This leads us into a clever little scene where the reader has to move the spectacles over the blurred writing on the scroll in order to read it. This is original and amusing and sets the game off on a good footing. Forced into a quest of his own to get this one rescinded, Borgash must leave his cave and take either of two possible routes into town, each of which will offer up the opportunity to acquire a companion for his travels, and ultimately lead him to the inn from where the…

I was surprised how much different dialog options change the game!

That's a nice visual novel. Fun dialogs, charming story, good amount of choices. My only personal complaint is there's no dialog log and no option to rewind the dialog a bit, but that's just because I personally often forget small things.

I like the story, it's funny but also has some good emotional moments too. I like the different varied paths there are, with some things changing when different combinations are selected rather than just the individual branches/decisions themselves. Something else I like relating to that, is how you can make a lot of saves (with custom names) for trying out different things, which cuts down on the amount of skipping through stuff you need to do. I have a lot of hours because of trying to find different endings/scenarios, but I probably played for about 5 hours or so before going full skip and look for endings/achievements mode, although even still I've seen new sections of dialogue from doing different things all throughout, so I've definitely had more than 5 hours of that overall. I still do need one more achievement though so I might look for it occasionally, but I already have for quite a while. My first playthrough took me about 70 minutes, but I do read quite fast so it's probably closer to 90 minutes - 2 hours for the average person. There's enough different paths to give at least a few hours of good decent playtime before it's mainly looking for specific stuff and skipping …

Clever story with enjoyable characters. I've only gone through it once, but I will definitely be doing so again so I can see what other decisions I make will do to the story.
