The year is 1923. You play Edward Charles Harden, an American traveller — and increasingly unreliable narrator — who's come to Norway to find his missing sister. I wouldn't NOT recommend this game. It was by no means bad. Just honestly a bit lack luster in my opinion. If you are wanting a super short, atmospheric, and semi-interesting story based game, then absolutely give it a shot. I would never pay full price for this however, as it really only took me 4 hours to complete if that1 found this helpful
I was looking for something similar to Gordian Rooms 2, some kind of open space that could be explored while trying to solve puzzles or a mystery. I came across Draugen on a list of suggested games and was sold based on the beautiful landscape and concept of the story. [WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW AND COMMENTS ABOUT DEATH/SUICIDE] Issues with gameplay: 1) You are lead to believe that you will be able to roam the landscape and locations freely, this is not true, in the slightest. 2) You are not allowed to skip dialog. 3) You do not go into (have zero access to) half of the structures in the game. 4) Several of the structures you are allowed into, you spend very little time inside of: general store, mine, and villager houses. 5) Actual game interaction is little-to-none. I felt like I was just simply clicking "next" on a storyline. 6) You're lead to believe you'll be solving some kind of mystery but the game has no puzzles, no hidden objects, and no objectives to complete. 7) The price of the game vs. the amount of time actually playing did not match up. This game, in my opinion, is overpriced for what you get. 8) Although the atmosphere and imagery are stunning, it seems that's …1 found this helpful
i did NOT expect that twist at all. very pretty game and interesting story. i personally recommend getting ur controller and kicking back to enjoy. i dont really think it has a lot of playability, so you can justify the pricce yourself, but just purely based on the gameplay and story, i can recommend. this game could be slightly better optimised though.
the game is excellent - I liked everything about it
First off, an absolutely beautiful game. Loved the atmosphere, choosing to set a mystery in 1920's Norway was a fantastic decision. The story was rather good, and I will state I found myself enjoying my time with this game. However, I will also state that I think this game would have made a better novel than a game. Still, an excellent game in it's own right, and I will likely play it again at some point (I like to give games a few years between playthroughs, just to make sure I can relive the experience to it's fullest each time).
I enjoyed this game. It has a great atmosphere and isn’t linear. It will appeal to those who aren’t fans on excessive action but enjoy interesting logic, unconventional solutions and unpredictable plot twists.
