Dungeon Renovation Simulator

Abandoned. Avoid.

Unfortunately this game was abandonned by the devs (no update or news in 2+ years). The game itself is fun, but there is only 4 levels and it's very buggy. - Autosave crashes the game constantly; - Item collisions can be very glitchy and will catapult you/other items around; - Some stains cannot be cleaned or reached, so you can never clean a level to 100%; - Because of the collision issues, you cannot carry many items at once so you spend most of your time walking back and forth to the trash disposal one item at a time; - Level % completion is bugged to 8% at all time, so you never know when you're actually done; I cannot in good concience recommend this game in its current state, and unfortunately I don't think the devs will ever work on it again, so don't bother buying it unless it's like a dollar and you are incredibly bored.

The first issue I had was lighting. I put it on low graphics because I have an old PC. I immediately noticed there must be some kind of brightness or gamma issue because everything was blindingly bright. Changing brightness and gamma settings did not help at all. I moved up to Medium graphics settings and still no change. Finally I tried ultra graphics settings and only then could I see the entirety of the game in the correct lighting - overuse of shaders - but my frames were drastically reduced to the point of unplayability. I was unable to complete more than 8% of the first level because I could not for the life of me figure out how to even place down my bucket. As other reviews have noted, there has been no update to this game since 2024 and no activity in the developer's discord, so I have no expectation any issues will be fixed.

Finished the 1st mission and encountered a broken mechanic which requires the players to activate a statue which doesn't work. Why fix issue like this when you can just ignore it and move on to other games. Its funny how Valve encourage scams and broken games while the Yacht guy constantly talks about what is needed in gaming and how companies have lost their ways.

The game has a cool concept which I love. But it's so freaking glitchy and buggy! Autosave makes my system freeze up and there's no way to turn this off or make it longer in the settings. Sometimes the mop and vacuum tools don't reach as high as they should, meaning you have to find something to stand on or keep jumping until you somehow get whatever dirt you're trying to clean. I would not recommend this game in its current state, it hasn't been updated and I think they forgot about it, actually.

I enjoyed playing Dungeon Renovation Simulator. The core gameplay is relaxing and satisfying. The wiping mechanics could be improved a bit in terms of control. Sometimes it feels slightly clunky. Adding a couple more mechanics or variations would also help reduce the feeling of repetition as you progress. I didn't run into any game-breaking bugs. For an Early Access game, it's in a good shape and definitely worth trying if you enjoy casual renovation/clean-up simulators, especially at this price point.
