About Dungeons & Dragons: Dragonshard
Originally released in 2005, Dragonshard™ returns in a respectful re‑release that quietly modernises the classic: modern‑resolution support, localisation‑friendly saves and profiles, smoother timers and physics, ASLR compatibility, and other under‑the‑hood fixes for a cleaner experience on today’s PCs.Dragonshard™ is a real-time strategy experience based in the mystical world of Eberron, the acclaimed DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® realm. Within this wholly imaginative setting lives an inventive gameplay fusion: dramatic RTS play is affected by the risks and rewards of a thrilling RPG-styled underworld. As players direct troops over the land, they also plunge smaller, hero-led parties below ground to an RPG-modeled world of beasts, battles and bounty. Experience and items gained in this underworld result in great powers and abilities above ground. Using magic, weaponry and skilled maneuvers, players command armies from varying races to control, protect - or destroy - the powerful Heart of Siberys. Obtaining this omnipotent artifact will unleash its full forces, good or evil, upon the entire world.
- The first DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® Real-Time Strategy Experience
- DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® game from the Eberron campaign setting
- Game design with two levels of interconnected action: RTS war above ground and critical RPG-styled battles in dungeons below
- Four ranges of controllable units: powerful champions, heroic captains, trainable henchmen, and nearly unstoppable battlefield juggernauts
- Unit development based on 'Experience Points', allowing players to "level up" units - an added RPG twist to the classic RTS gameplay structure
- An innovative village grid system - the "Nexus System" - where choice and placement of buildings can specifically affect units' powers
- Three warring factions, each with its own history, campaigns, unique strengths... and weaknesses.
- Game story by Eberron creator Keith Baker
- A variety of threatening environments, all with the "Hyper Terrain" feature, creating real-time terrain deformation in the wake of unit movements

First time I've played the game was around early 2006 (I think may or june) , feels strange that 20 years have passed since then. So for today standards the game doesn't holds up but still you can enjoy some time with it. Pros: - Graphics are upscalled , so its easier to enjoy the game than previous versions - D&D game , campain length 7 missions per faction (14 in total) but the whole story feels more like One-Shot rather than campain. - Has a nice nostalgic feeling - 3 Factions , 4 major heroes per faction , plethora of units Cons: - Too short - Feels rushed and half-baked, user immersion is quite lacking - Combat/playstyle is repetative , you always class forces heads on (e.g. having rogue as hero to the mission would make more sense to go stealth and use traps). Enemy is just throwing units to you. - Map and objects are sometime not display correctly - Minor glitches from time to time (e.g. Ghost in medusa chamber) Summarizing it, 10euros are not even close to the game worth but its 20yo game... I suggest buying it in deep discount, its nice but its one of cases that its love it or hate it1 found this helpful
After playing for awhile, it was mainly trial and error. Chapter 3 was still insanely difficult. The ONLY reason why I finally beat the level is because I put in about 2 hours of extremely slow, careful, perfection gameplay. As in, you don't lose a single unit, use sniping techniques where you hit and run dealing free damage on enemy units while they do very little damage to you. HUGE TIP ADVICE. DO NOT OPEN THE BRIDGE! If you do, the lizard units get a lot stronger and they spawn more units so quickly. Open it at the very end before you unlock the portal to finish the game. Chapter 4 was beatable the same way as Chapter 3. PLAY VERY SLOW! Try your best to play perfectly. Try your best not to lose any units. Plus you can replay easier levels and re collect items. They stack in your inventory so you can sell them, SLOWLY earning enough to unlock a very useful equipment item that cost 7500 to 15000 or 20000+ points. Making your hero a lot stronger. ANOTHER HUGE TIP AND ADVICE. Unlock Chapter 3 and 4 artifacts FIRST before trying to complete as much missions as possible. When you have the Chapter 3 and 4 artifacts FIRST. Then play Chapter 3 to try to complete most missions, your hero …1 found this helpful
Don't know much about D&D or Eberron but I like this game. I find it difficult to be 'immersed' in most RTS games, but not so here because whenever you're controlling a group of characters it's like an RPG almost.
I really like the game. Played the demo when it came out, took me a lot of time to get to it. Simple fun RTS with story.
Great game play and engaging narrative. The game tells you at the start it's RTS so your not mad when you don't make a character to roll play as.
Fun, old school RPG. It was rather short, though. I don't tear through games, and I finished at 16 hours. I got it cheap, so it was definitely worth the money.
