About Dungeons & Dragons: Krynn Series

Champions of Krynn
The War of the Lance is over, but Evil is a BAD loser... With the Dragonarmies defeated and the lands to the east reconquered, the forces of good have withdrawn and settled down to a well-earned rest. Evil forces, however, never rest and have been quietly plotting a cataclysmic return to power! Their goal: nothing short of establishing the Dark Queen, Takhisis, as undisputed ruler of Krynn! Guide your party of characters through a dark web of intrigue and combat, where dragons, draconians and other unspeakable monstrosities dwell. Go with a brave heart - for you and your heroic adventurers are all that stand in the way of evil tyranny.

Death Knights of Krynn
Lord Soth has thrown down the gauntlet of challenge - a challenge that you are oath-bound to accept. It has been one short year since the Champions of Krynn claimed victory over the massed forces of evil. Now, the Lord of the Death Knights, Soth himself, is preparing to wreak havoc in an eruption of evil such as Krynn has never witnessed! As members of the Special Solamnic Order of the Champions of Krynn, you and your party stand as the only force capable of answering soth's deadly challenge... and living to tell of it.

The Dark Queen of Krynn
The Epic began with Champions of Krynn. Then, the adventure continues in Death Knights of Krynn. Now, the amazing conclusion to SSI's award-winning Dragonlance fantasy role-playing epic is here! The Dark Queen of Krynn propels you across the sea to Taladas for the final battle against Krynn's worst nightmare. You must once more take up arms and traverse from the depths of the ocean to the very pinnacle of the Tower of Flame to confront this evil, once and for all...

  • Assemble a party of fearsome warriors, wise clerics and nimble thieves, and take them with you throughout your three adventures
  • Guide your party through a dark web of intrigue and combat, where dragons, draconians and other unspeakable terrors dwell
  • Only great wit and valor will defeat the Dark Queen's minions

I love these games, they are right there with the 2nd Forgotten realms (Curse of the Azure Bonds, Pools of Radiance) series. Gameplay is good old school AD&D 2nd edition rules, a little improved upon, depending how you see it. The reason I don't recommend it? They didn't remove the copy protection like they did on ALL the other ones, so you gotta stop, open a window, open the journal, find the word, type it in, its all a bunch of bunk how many layers do you need? These games are from the 1900's! The 1900's! Completely kills the actual immersion you encounter in these types of games. Also, YOU MUST LIKE KNIGHTS BECAUSE THATS WHAT THE GAME IS ABOUT. I never had a title actually affect the game. I am at a point where I cannot proceed due to needing a Knight-classed character to pass through a burning portal. Well, I didn't need no stinkin' knights...its like worse than a paladin and thats my least favorite class aside from thief. So, yeah, As an RPG, it broke one of the golden rules of RPGs - play it how you want. Nope. Play it how we ASSUME. Now it has read my angry review and deleted one of my party members. How quaint. I do not remember the originals having these sort of bugs, or c…

The Dungeons & Dragons: Krynn Series is a must-play for DragonLance fans and old-school CRPG diehards. Set in the world of Krynn, these Gold Box titles (Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, and The Dark Queen of Krynn) drop you right into the War of the Lance era, letting you experience that setting in a way the books only hint at. The turn-based combat is classic Gold Box - tactical, methodical, and deeply satisfying once it clicks - while party creation and progression give you that true tabletop D&D feel. It’s definitely dated, with a learning curve and an interface that shows its age, but the payoff is a rich, cohesive campaign that carries across all three games. If you’ve read the DragonLance novels or just want a pure, no-frills D&D experience, this collection delivers.

PUT SAVE DISK IN O: This request ended my Champions of Krynn experience in Steam. There does not seem to be any acceptable response - including no way back. What's the secret to saving and recalling saved games in this Steam / DosBox environment?

Developed by Strategic Simulations and MicroMagic and published by SNEG, Dungeons & Dragons: Krynn Series is a collection of three classic role-playing games that transports players back to one of the most influential periods in computer RPG history. Bringing together Champions of Krynn, Death Knights of Krynn, and The Dark Queen of Krynn, the package offers a complete Dragonlance adventure built upon the legendary Gold Box engine. While modern role-playing games often emphasize cinematic storytelling and visual spectacle, this trilogy focuses on tactical depth, character progression, party management, and faithful adaptation of tabletop Dungeons & Dragons mechanics. The collection's greatest strength lies in its connection to the Dragonlance setting. Krynn is one of the most beloved worlds in Dungeons & Dragons lore, and the games fully embrace its unique atmosphere. Dragons, draconians, knights, divine magic, and legendary villains all play central roles throughout the trilogy. Players are not simply exploring another fantasy realm; they are participating in conflicts that feel directly connected to the rich mythology and history of Dragonlance. Fans of the novels and tabletop s…

Classic gold box, closest to true D&D as any game. The adventure is great.
