About Edge Islands
Edge Islands mixes the gameplay of a Colony Sim with Tactical RPG elements like turn-based combats and heroes to level up.
Inspired by classics of the genre but more accessible, manage a team of adventurers landing on a procedural island, and explore dungeons while taking care of their needs, moods, traits and social interactions.
Gather resources from your environment to build a colony for your heroes and prepare for their adventures. Make them cosy to improve their mood, farm and raise animals to provide food while facing changing weather and seasons. Then, when you are ready, recruit new members and expand until building a massive fortress. You will find many items and customization options to create a unique base!
Take part in turn-based tactical combats with your heroes. Use skills learned in the colony and earn XP to level up. Experience fast-paced combats with teams of 4 and based on placement and synergies between units.
Explore procedural islands with points of interest and resources to improve the colony. Prepare and send groups on expeditions into procedural dungeons to retrieve loot and gold, allowing you to recruit new heroes and unlock new constructions.
Prepare your heroes for battle by building training facilities to unlock combat skills based on their classes. Craft them better equipment, potions, and items. But be careful: Training and fighting take time, and they also have other duties to perform for the colony!
And don’t forget to take care of their mood, ambitions and relationships to maximize their combat efficiency.

UPDATED REVIEW 25.04.2026: This game seems to be doing many things right, but there is still some lack of clarity in what each job does, what runes do (in terms of what exact bonuses do they give, per rune, when applied to an armor or a weapon) and some jobs don't seem to be performed properly after a while. - Some bugs only seem to appear several hours in, like water not getting grabbed, or pawns cooking and making potions non-stop (not even sleeping). - Runes and and wood are a constant bottleneck, and the trading system is punishing rather than enjoyable. As soon as you try to sell stuff, the time required for trading explodes exponentially. At least there is a lot of wood to be bought, but the Runes remain a massive bottleneck since they cannot be bought. - Some mobs seem to be overpowered for their level. There needs to be better balancing on this front. I think the game still needs some time to cook, and I am glad the developer is keeping the game updated.3 found this helpful

Game crashes at the loading screen every single time. I have tried all 3 versions of the game and it happens on all 3. Also, I have to unplug one of my gaming peripherals when I start this game otherwise the game thinks im constantly holding the down button. Ill check back after this cooks longer. Refunding for now..too janky.
The overworld movement is utterly terrible. Characters refuse to move if they are on recreation, but it isnt indicated. The combat is awful. I think I spent 30 minutes and I'd already had enough. Tried it again today for another 30min. Large map / very large map optimiation is poor, play standard. Again, the movement just makes my brain hurt.
