The enfeoffed nation “Wan Yan” has enjoyed thousands of years of peace but is now on the brink of disintegration, with the flames of war devastating the land over several decades. The northern military powerhouse - Lu, has continuously absorbed neighboring countries in the past century, becoming an unrivaled force within Wan Yan. The newly-formed Seven-States Union in the south, under the leadership of Hong, opposes Lu and is trying to rally more countries to join the alliance. The primary setting of the game - the Kingdom of Bo, is caught between these two major powers.
Eleven years ago, Bo was attacked and destroyed by Lu. The old territory of Bo was occupied by Lu. Eleven years later, the crown prince Huangzhu led the allied forces from the Union in a surprise attack on the former capital of Bo and successfully reclaimed the country. However, this war of restoration might just be the beginning of a series of chaos…
In Elysium Above, players will assume the role of a mid-level commander in Bo, helping the newly restored nation to fend off the encroachment of powerful enemies through clever troop deployment and superb command. As the story progresses, you will become aware and in control of the ambitions and purposes behind various factions. What will be your next move?

Foreword: this review was made for version 0.8.5 during early access. Some of the things here may have changed by the time you read this. I’ll try to update this review from time to time. +++ Very colorful cast. They’re all very likable in their own way. The companions with whom you’ll travel greatly carry this game. I love their interactions. This game has a lot of character. It’s rare a cast has such a deep impact on me. ++ Amazing character artwork. I also really like the backgrounds. ++ I like the storytelling quite a lot. You get a lot mysterious interactions and cliffhangers. The speed of the story is also good, if maybe a little too quick for my taste but not everyone wants a slow very text-heavy game. ++ Very promising for an early access game + Has really nice music. I did have the impression the variety of songs could be a little larger. Or some location-specific background sounds could be used (like sea sounds in the port town). + Canlang is absolutely fabulous <3 + The combat mechanic around strategy, interval and ticks is interesting. + The animations are fun + Worth at full price. ± Not a fan of the cg. - The balance is wonky. It's passable but needs lots of improvem…5 found this helpful
The game seems too difficult to play. The characters only have one personality. Some skills are still unfinished and can't be read. I would like to adjust many things to make it better. Characters should have new styles of clothing. Skills are easier to read. There is a choice of difficulty level. At all it was fun4 found this helpful
(IGNORE THE 100+ HOUR PLAYTIME, I'M JUST AS CONFUSED AS YOU) The game has bursts of story, ending in a fight (the game aspect.). The fights got kinda annoying and I kinda hope a future update lets you skip them if you fail enough times, because personally some fights took me like 5 times to pass. And the story is too good for ppl to leave for that. The backround and characters are such a treat, and the live2d for each character made me so happy to see new characters. After the fight. You have 2 1 on 1 events with any character in ur party. That aspect alone makes the game worth it. These events can have characters in there underwear, amazing. Jueming's a tease who will get u arrested, and Dongxian, Dongxian's perfect. The story never felt boring and I love all the characters and their the design and the art, it's all great. About the whole playtime thing, last I checked I played the game for like 23 hours, and I surely wasn't done since I have 3/7 CG's left. I like the fighting aspect cuz they draw out playime, I want this game to never end.3 found this helpful
Stunningly beautiful drawing and an interesting plot. Still, for me personally, the whole strategic part is quite boring. I hope the developers will focus more on the text part of the game, art and the plot, prescribing relationships and romance with the characters. Besides, I would like to see the nsfw version of the game in the future) Thank you and good luck in developing.2 found this helpful
Playing the game through Early Access, joined in when there was only three chapters and been playing the update all the way up to Chapter 4. I'm really enjoying the game so far with the cute character interactions, fun combat setup, and amazing OST. The story's been surprising me with every update between the backend plot threads and the mysteries behind several of the characters. Everything is apparently a conspiracy of one kind or another. The protagonist is an interesting character too, and my original theories as to who/what he is had to be thrown out after reading the latest story bits. The second biggest surprise to me was the musician party member expressing an appreciation of hot guys all around, but frankly I agree with that. Combat starts off rather slow, but a few battles in and options start opening up for everyone. The UI is a bit opaque since status effects won't be described to you until after they get put on, so you'll have to keep some brain space open to remember what is what. Damage typing is a thing too, and you'll have to pay attention to know how they're any different. Like, it took me a bit to figure out magic damage (and potent I guess) ignores the armor b…
