Ergastulum is a first-person fantasy horror adventure game that blends a mix of Asian and Western folklore to create a terrifying vision that will test a player's faith to the extremes. The game focuses on psychological horror which relies on the character’s fears and abnormal psyche to frighten players.
An Ergastulum is an underground building used to hold dangerous slaves, or other creatures. This is the Dark World. The player must traverse between Hell and Earth to find the answers they seek with the hope of rediscovering their faith which they have lost.

hmm... no updates since 2021?? Either the K. Monkey is hard at work the last 3 years at getting this game completed, or it has been abandoned. Developers who abandon their early access games only hurts legit devs who really want feedback during early access to provide an amazing game (ex. Baldur's Gate 3)5 found this helpful

Unfortunately abandonware. As Steam itself says, the last update was over 5 years ago. The developer seems to have gotten an opportunity elsewhere according to her X page. She's the creator of Dungeon Nightmares 1 and 2. 2 being one of the best and scariest horror games I ever played. This one shows promise but it's not worth playing in the current state. I just find it super lame her sense of ethics didn't at least push her to leave an update here for promises unfulfilled... Makes for distrust and distaste in the future. Abandoned and most likely will never get out of Early Access but it's playable
I really enjoyed this game, however due to the complete abandonment of the game for 4 plus years with no updates, I am not happy. This game, if it ever is finished, would be a good game, BUT due to the developers choices of working on a new game while just letting this one rot, really is the pinnacle of the problem of early access games. I cannot recommend an unfinished, abandoned game, especially without any updates. If ever this gets updates, and finished I will change my review. I wanted to try to complete the game rather than being stuck in a perpetual loop that is unwinnable.
