Escape from Hornhead

Hmm, I guess I am the only one who dislikes this game. Escape from Hornhead is right up there with the fifty worst games ever made. Yes, it looks nice, but that simply isn't enough... I would rather experience a pixilated retro game that has actual gameplay than to suffer every step with Escape from Hornhead. There is no settings, options menu or save feature, red flag right there. Player movement is dodgy, always hanging up on things or getting into major trouble using the crouch feature, even getting into major trouble just walking around in rooms without crouching. Items are also troublesome, having to be precisely at the correct distance and angle to pick them up. Then there's Hornhead that eccentric weirdo who has nothing better to do than endlessly patrol while augmented with most remedial AI. If that wasn't bad enough Hornhead is also silent, no sound cues, he's just there - gotcha. Then there is all the dying and that's what happens the most in this game. Again, yes it looks great, but that will never be enough to make up for all the flaws which ultimately waste the player's time and only provide a frustrating experience.

What can I say, it's a fun game. Running around the house, looking for keys, hiding from this dude with horns. Graphics, of course, not super, but the atmosphere is on top. There are some strange sounds, creaks, rustles.... In short, it's tense. Locations are quite confusing, sometimes you enter the same room a hundred times. But this is probably to scare you even more. In general, if you like to sweat and get nervous, you can try it

Playing this project is like being in a nightmare that doesn't end. Around every corner this Hornhead is like my failure in life. It's okay if you like to gasp in fear while looking for potions and clues. Don't forget the soundtrack, which makes you think you're in a horror movie and ♥♥♥♥ yourself - and it's not for the better.

I didn't expect Escape from Hornhead to be so addictive. Really, the atmosphere is just creepy! The sounds, the darkness and the constant feeling that you're not alone. Every opening of a room is like a lottery. Sometimes it would be easier to give up than to keep looking for the keys, knowing that Hornhead is about to catch up. But winning this game becomes a real triumph.

This game is simply a masterpiece in the horror genre. Running from Hornhead through the gloomy corridors is not what I was expecting from my evening of an evening's rest. The keys are hidden in such a way that only true treasure hunters will find them. If you want a little adrenaline and stress, give it a try, but be warned, your nerves may be can't take it.
