"Escape from Spikes" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. This is a particularly bad, painfully generic 2D pixel platformer with no notable narrative or anything, it's just a game of "jump the robot over the spikes". Both the robots and the spikes look a bit like they're flipped assets, too, with a few tweaks and changes, you know, like re-writing the assignment in your own handwriting after you bullied the class nerd to do your homework for you. That's exactly what this garbage feels like. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Nice game design and great gameplay! Each level feels like a fresh challenge—part maze, part parkour—where you need to collect all coins to unlock the next stage. But there’s a twist: with every coin you collect, your speed increases, making it harder to stay in control. Can you handle the pressure and grab the key? Pros: Very fun and challenging game, much like celeste which i love the menu is great and looks cool settings and concept is pretty cool Cons: controls are not the best on keyboard but luckily my controller worked there should be more details simple controls, could add dash or something.. but very fun i enjoyed playing.

This is a really fun little game to play in free time, i loved playing this game in my free time from work when i needed to relax a bit its cheap too so totally worth purchasing.

Hi, tried out this game and here are my views: Pros: - Smooth gameplay, played for 2 hours and didn't come across any bugs or glitches - Easy to pick up, fun platformer, has some difficult levels, but you enjoy playing them - The whole variety of enemies make it quite interesting and challenging - I also whole concept of increasing slippery with coins collections making it difficult while progressing - Options to customize the keys-controls mapping Cons: - Didn't support my pc controller - The keyboard mapping uses arrow keys and spacebar, traditionally left hand is used for movements and right for jumps etc.., (Not a big deal, as I could mapping custom controls) - Could provide more customizations, the color option only provides three colors and only yellow looks good because the red and green paint everything red including eyes, which makes it less appealing - it's pixel art, so putting it full screen made the text a bit weird
