Long before the current "live action" escape room craze, the internet saw somewhat of a boom in niche flash escape games, most of which came from Japan. [b]Escape the Ninja Room[/b] feels like a time slip to that era, but upgraded to a 360 degree view. For fans of these games, you'll no doubt enjoy it, but bear in mind that it's not without problems. [b][u]Since steam forces a binary rating, choosing recommended since it was enjoyable, but this review is actually mixed.[/u][/b] [h1]Pros[/h1] + Unity engine allows for rotational 360 views + Contains familiar combination locks, items to collect and use + 2 rooms to escape + Simple point and click control [h1]Cons[/h1] - 3D potential isn't fully realized. There's no perspective puzzles, no free movement (you are limited to preset locations that you "warp" between) - Very low res textures, short music loop. - Short. 5 mins per room possible. Without spoilers, maybe 1 hour. - Couple bugs: -- Save is broken in ninja room if you spend 2 coins. Becomes impossible to complete on a resumed game. -- If you mute the sound, exit and restart, the game seems to be muted by default forever -- The game has no exit button.
