About Estória
You are Luna, the daughter of a humble lighthouse keeper on the small island of Pilot Town, part of a far-flung, isolated chain of islands in a remote corner of the Greater Kingdom of Estória.Just across the sea, far off on the hazy horizon, lies the Isle of Estória, the regional capital of this forgotten part of the Outer Kingdom. The island is ruled by Governor Kreel.King Ren and Queen Lorna have not been seen in the Outer Kingdom in over fifteen years. Some say they have forgotten all about the outlying islands. Some say they will return one day to set things right. Some say they are kept away by the Governor, who holds their daughter, Princess Marcella, as his ward, which he has used to gain power and influence over the years. But none of this is your concern. You’re just the daughter of a humble lighthouse keeper…Explore the 2D point-and-click world of Estória by finding items, talking to characters, solving puzzles, and uncovering the history and mystery of this isolated part of the Kingdom.Similar in style to Sierra and LucasArts classic adventure games, Estória features an interesting story, fun and memorable characters, and puzzles that range from easy to... not so easy, but don't worry, a hint system is built in, so gamers of all ages and levels of experience will love exploring this world. No ads or in-app purchases to worry about! From first time solo developer (so please take it easy on me!) Jonathan Jahnke. Welcome to Estória...

Estoria is an adventure game with simple inventory puzzles (saying it has dialog puzzles probably would be a stretch). The second half of the game also has some code puzzles. The game is almost linear, with a small amount of exploration. There is a detailed hint system. There is an impressive number of funny and helpful responses for trying to use an item or offer an item to an NPC. Also there are many optional actions, which I think works quite well because there is always something to do for the player and also because it's a good way to make the key actions less obvious. There is no voice acting. The game has beautiful locations, but I can't say I liked the character art as much. There's a mishmash of different styles, the character animations are rather awkward, and some of the human figures and faces look really strange, resembling masks or dolls. So if the background art is AI generated, I suppose that means I liked the AI parts the best :). The UI is quite good; in particular, I think it was a good decision not to show an object hotspot indicator if the selected item cannot be used on that object. But the game does need a way to quickly exit locations.3 found this helpful
A simple yet charming and ultimately uplifting point and click game that I found worth playing.1 found this helpful
What a lovely little game! I really enjoyed it! Good storyline and puzzle crafting I would highly recommend this game for the point and click lovers and looking forward to a continuation of the story.1 found this helpful
Not that there’s too long to wait, as Estória is a relatively brief experience that should only take about 2-3 hours to reach its exciting and heartwarming conclusion. In all, this is what I call a “short but sweet” tale, as a good story with good pacing and straightforward puzzles doesn’t have to be the length of an epic novel. Luna’s adventure will take you to only a few locales, but her journey is a beautiful, memorable one with more than its fair share of heart along the way. https://adventuregamehotspot.com/review/5873/estoria1 found this helpful
In the world of games, violence, vulgarity and 'Ugly' rules. Ugly scenery and ugly characters. Games that are an exception to violence, vulgarity and Ugly are as hard to find as a pirate's treasure chest. I would not rate this the best of games but it was a pleasant 6 hours and I got my money's worth. Thank you.1 found this helpful
The story is nothing entirely new, but nice enough, and the artwork is decent. The writing (particularly for the final confrontation and ending) was weak, though. Movement and interactions are slow-ish, although not to the point where it gets annoying. I appreciate the effort that went into the lore, but while putting all of it into the library is logical, it would've been preferable from a gameplay perspective to disperse it more. And the minigames for
fixing the light during the storm
and
snatching the amulet
were just terrible. Not so much because they were too difficult, but because you're constantly being interrupted. Rating: ★★★☆☆
