Junky and abandoned

It's a pretty nice game with a nice mutation system. I think with some tweaking it could be easily worth monetizing. As it is now, it's perfectly alright as a free game with around 3-5 hours play time depending on if you want to achievement hunt or unlock all upgrades and whatnot. But I can see some spots where it could be improved with just a few changes. Firstly I think it would help to have an onscreen tutorial, which sounds absurd since it's such a simple game, but it took me until day 20 to realize there was even a pause menu and a bit of guess work on the first day to figure out which button to be able to interact with. So just something with a quick pop up saying "WASD to move, E to interact, Q to open Inventory, and Esc to open pause menu for further information." would be completely serviceable and friendly to new players. Alternatively, more onscreen UI wouldn't hurt. Like having a bag icon next to the letter Q would be more intuitive on what the Q is supposed to open, next to a pause icon with ESC to show that a pause screen even exists and how to open it. EvoSprout is a modest farming simulation that understands the appeal of keeping things small, calm, and manageable. Rather than surrounding the player with a huge countryside, complicated social relationships, or demanding production systems, it concentrates on a private garden where growing produce is the main attraction. The game is developed and published by Max Tratnik, and its intentionally compact scope gives it the feeling of a personal experimental project rather than an enormous farming simulator designed to consume hundreds of hours. EvoSprout is a small farming game that keeps things simple and focuses on growing plants, improving my little farm and experimenting with genetics. I start with a small garden and can buy crops, plant them, harvest them and use different stations to process and analyse what I grow. It has a very relaxed feel to it, and I like that it does not try to turn farming into some massive complicated simulation. It is more about slowly building things up and seeing what I can get from the plants I grow. The part I find most interesting is the crossbreeding system. I can combine different plants and experiment with their genetics to try and produce better crops. This gives the farming a little more purpose than simply planting something, waiting for it to grow and selling it. I can learn more about the genetics of my produce as I progress, which makes experimenting feel like part of the progression rather than just an optional extra. I like systems where I can gradually understand how things work and then use that knowledge to improve what I am producing. I don't think this game is for me, unfortunately. The start is very slow, and while other reviews say it gets more indepth with upgrades but I couldn't get past the beginning days. It might have been less tedious if I didn't have to press the interaction button multiple times to get the menus to show up. I wish there was a little more to do immediately, even as simple as customization.
