A great and obscure indie survival game that at times recalls the legendary Cryostasis. Recommended for diehard fans of the genre.3 found this helpful
Looked interesting and was on sale. I figured so long as nothing super bad happened right away, might be fun to get into another horror survival crafting game. Wasn't quite what I expected. More like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. than The Forest. That would have been fine, but issues cropped up quickly, preventing me from getting anywhere. The character is very slow. Even sprinting doesn't seem to do much. This means more time holding down buttons to move, which can strain the hand. I've experienced such even in games with faster movement because the maps were so huge. In addition, reloading the first weapon you get (a bolt action rifle) has a laborously tedious animation where the character slowly inserts and pushes in one bullet at a time. I would call this a case of "misaimed realism." Is it realistic? Probably. But gameplay wise, it's a detriment. Given how the character does everything slower than a snail's pace, I didn't relish the prospect of any combat or exploring. But exploration was made worse by the fact a snowstorm swept in and reduced visibility down to the classic crappy horror flashlight that barely lights up what's right in front of you, nevermind anything further than 1 foot o…3 found this helpful

This game is half baked and half cooked. Disappearing key items (softlocking you) is a cherry on top of this boiled cake.
Janky but really fun. These are the words that best describe S.T.A.- er I mean Expedition Zero.
