Falling for Beans

A nice, concise game with a fun, under-explored concept of downward vertical 3D platforming. At first, with no upgrades you'll often find yourself bumbling down the beanstalk taking damage here and there and likely struggling to get a favorable path or foothold. Investing your collected beans in upgrades will make downward progression more streamlined. There are multiple investments that will change the way this downward journey feels. Reducing your fall damage and increasing your max health and in air survival time will help you to go for paths you spot further down the beanstalk. Increasing your movement speed will allow you to jump further and direct yourself better toward a favorable path. I find the bean healing upgrade to be a good general purchase as healing helps to remedy the fall damage you'll be racking up. In terms of gameplay I find this game to be very nice. I like the way the beanstalk winds, it has what I find to be a fair proportion of navigable sections and portions that are too steep to stand on. The leaves also seem to spawn in a fair distribution, of course, sometimes a run feels lucky or unlucky often depending on your breakaway leaf spawns but I think that …

This game is in a class of its own, truly a genre-defining masterpiece that will be remembered for generations. Falling For Beans is what happens when a passion for beans meets unmatchable game development skills. A combination that I, as a fellow game developer, can only dream of achieving. Not only is the game unique in its approach to the platforming genre but it also has an intuitive design and flawless movement. The thrill you feel when playing this game is truly unmatched, one moment you will be near death and see no possible way out but then out of the corner of your eye you see the slightest hint of a brown leaf, you race for it weaving through obstacles in your path, you land on it, it breaks, and right below it is an entire feast of beans, one second ago you were hopeless, and now you are filled with hope, this is an experience that only Falling For Beans can provide. This game is a life-changing experience in every single way and I highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. 20/10

Simple game that will take you a while if you want to make it all the way to the ground. You play Jack who’s running away from a giant down a beanstalk. Unlike other popular games that need you to climb, you must reach the ground in this game. But you have to think about your health and the giant after you, so you can't just jump over the edge. The gameplay is simple. You need to climb down and aim for leaves that break your fall. Although this often implies that you simply can’t avoid losing health, the beanstalk has five distinct leaves that behave differently and encourage strategic jumps. The secret is to fall on those leave that do not hurt you. Only two types entirely negate the damage, although they aren't ideal. One breaks your fall, but it instantly disintegrates, causing you to fall even further. The only deadly leaf is a flytrap, which quickly kills you. One of the leaves relies on a broken mechanism, rendering it useless. The leaves moves left and right, making aiming at it more difficult.
