About Falling for Yaoguais

"Falling for Yaoguais" is a fantasy visual novel based on Taiwanese yaoguai(supernatural beings) legends. You are drawn into a conflict between humans and yaoguais, navigating through events alongside four yaoguai love interests. Who will you end up with in the end? What if the legendary yaoguais(supernatural beings) were real? And even more shocking... they're all hot guys! You (custom name) apply for a seemingly ordinary job at an amusement park, only to discover it's a trap set by yaoguais to lure humans as food! Worse yet, you must disguise yourself as one of them and secretly investigate the conspiracy behind it all.The revered Sacred White Chiedong Tree Deity, the cold and sharp-tongued Serpent Prince, the fearsome Specter Jin who demands live sacrifices, and the mischievous Mischief Elf who tricks people into the mountains—face amusement park crises with these four as you make over 150 choices, forming bonds that run deep or stay shallow. As the truth unravels, an even bigger plot awaits.——But hey, love comes first, right? The amusement park's manager who offers you a high reward to disguise yourself as a yaoguai and assist in the investigation. In truth, he is a thousand-year-old ancient tree, transformed into a powerful guardian deity through human faith. Though he appears stern, he's actually quite soft-hearted, and you can sense his unintentional kindness.Protecting humans is in Bai Ruomu’s nature, but this pure-hearted guardian slowly begins to realize that his feelings for you might go beyond mere protection...A scientist who occupies the amusement park's infirmary and, upon discovering you're human, views you as a rare test subject. As the descendant of a serpent god and a human woman, he wields great power. Arrogant and sharp-tongued, Mo Daan has a purely scientific mind—yet he's stuck with a love-obsessed father who insists he find a human woman to truly love. To make matters worse, his father gave him a Love Blossom that will only bloom when he meets "the one." What a headache! You notice everyone piling their work on him and can’t help but step in—only to discover he’s not just a supervisor but the amusement park’s most capable employee, handling everything on his own!Specter Jin is an ancient yaoguai with a long history of close ties to humans. In the past, humans would sacrifice lives to him in exchange for his labor.Though gentle by nature, he’s long been aware that you’re human but chooses not to reveal it.Who would have thought that this once fearsome, man-eating Specter Jin would now be so fond of acting cute?Superstar Yan Xingmang isn’t just an amusement park employee—he’s also a yaoguai?!In fact, he’s the notorious trickster, the mischievous Mischief Elf, known for luring people into the mountains.
Cheerful and curious about humans, he finds it fascinating that you, a ‘yaoguai,’ are so familiar with human life.
He frequently flirts with you, making you wonder—does he say this to every girl?Thrown into the world of yaoguai, you barely escape being eaten and must now disguise yourself as one of them, navigating the complex relationships with other yaoguais.Though scared at first, your strong mental fortitude helps you quickly bond with them, even becoming friends. You're a bit reckless, but never weak—running away is never an option in your choices.
The yaoguais don’t understand love, but as you find yourself entangled with four yaoguai love interests, the question is—do you? The choice is yours.

Yo, I'm not gonna ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lie, this game's writing is weird as ♥♥♥♥. The only dark-skinned character in the ENTIRE cast is shown to be: lazy, incompetent, arrogant, a liar and manipulator, an extremist, a bootlicker, evil, etc, and that's all in the first few chapters. Again, the ONLY dark-skinned character is antagonized like this. All the other pale characters? Yeah, no, they're just 100% fine, no problems at all. It's a shame because the characters and writing (colorism aside) is charming enough, but I cannot in good faith recommend this. They antagonize quite literally the only character in the entire cast with a skin tone similar to mine, and it's so uncomfortable to read through. If it was just something minor and ignorable, MAYBE I could look past it, but there was a conscious decision made by the writers to be colorist.
Their only villain has dark skin and has a million negative traits slapped onto them, and they hate you for no reason, so don't even bother trying to redeem them!
The art is great, and the designs are cute, but I can't recommend this in good faith if this is how they treat their only dark-skinned character.

I really liked this game but the English really threw me off but lucky for me, I read Traditional Chinese and everything made so much more sense. Regardless, the English is understandable but missing some nuances. The characters are super cute and likeable, I love tales about Yaoguais so I just had to read it... all of it... The comedy in this is amazing even with sad and tragic tales weaved into it. The Chibi Artwork were my favourites and the BGM is really pleasant. If you like supernatural tales/folklore about Eastern type fairy/demon, this is one for you. All of them are based in actual Taiwanese folktales. I can't help but want to note, there's not many dark or darker skinned people in this story because it's set in Taiwan where their skin colours are very same shade? Also some characters have rather near white skin because they're not actual humans. The "evil" character with "dark skin" is like... some sort of landmark so he's very earthy/dark green. That is all! Hope to see more from this Dev, really enjoyed this one.

Oh nooooooooo! This was... TOOO GOOD!!! What am I supposed to do now?! ^^" I didn't expect this game to be this creative! Artwork is already spectacular (especially the CGs) and a whole lot of thought went into creating the story/characters and hell, even giving them backgrounds! I have trouble with names and in this game? I ended up remembering them and everything they stood for. That's how memorable they are! There are no favorites! Everyone has something special and unique to offer! And holy hell! This game has 19 Chapters + 20th being an Epilogue for a route you are on and, and...! Each route comes adorned with a beautiful CG toooooo! WAH! Story? Great! I was invested from the start! Sure there are spelling errors... BUT WHO CARES ABOUT THAT! You will eventually be submerged into a wonderful, funny and hella delightful existence of something AWESOME!!! The only "not really a bug" I encountered is that it said that my MC's (Main Character's) relationship with Bai was "ambiguous and ended"... And I know I 100% his affection lol! This happened during the office scene where Bai is being asked who his "ideal type" is... Guess my character fumbl…

i only played through 3 routes and the elf guy wasn't my type but at least had depth. i really love the game and characters in different ways but i just had a few issues with the story. Pros: Really fun game and good routes, all of them have lives outside of the heroine and the heroine actually has friends. good sound track, the chibi's are really cute and the leads interactions with each other is actually fun to watch. there are some silly choices with good replay ability to enjoy. the emoji's in the dialog box are super cute. Cons: I wish there was more replay ability/ major differences for each route instead of bai ruomu sacrificing himself in every single route no matter how high or low your affection is with him or even if you aren't on his route and in mao daans route it makes absolutely no sense for him to do this because mao daan actually gives the way out for her to become non-human so sacrificing himself makes zero sense and i really wanted to see him keep living in this route. it genuinely annoyed me for every route except for his own route and i wish they had kept this separate from the other leads routes. in the story even when your trying to lock in for a lea…
