Gnomes on the Roam is a pretty funny idea for a horde shooter. I am basically trying to survive against waves of interdimensional gnomes that have come to our world because they used up the energy from their own sun. Their plan is to take our sunlight instead, which gives me a pretty good reason to start shooting them. I like how silly the story is because the game clearly does not take itself too seriously. The main gameplay is about surviving endless rounds while the gnomes keep getting harder to deal with. I start with a pistol and can find an assault rifle during the game, which gives me a little more firepower as the waves get tougher. The shooting is simple and easy to understand, and I like that I can focus on moving around and keeping the enemies away rather than worrying about a huge number of complicated systems. The plant mechanic is probably the part that gives it a bit more personality. I can find seeds around the map and plant them so the plants can help me fight the gnomes. I like the idea because it gives me something to do between the shooting and makes the environment feel more useful. It also fits the strange nature of the game quite well. I am not just standin…
