Grapple Dog

its a 2d platformer. you're a dog. there's a grapple. that's pretty much all there is to it, its just a cute 2d platformer about a dog. world needs more games like this.

This game is so cute. You play as a dog and have animal friends and there's lots of silly dialogue. That's, unfortunately, about the extent of the things I like about it, though. Like others, I'm not a fan of how the controls work—specifically the grappling which is like, the main mechanic of the game. I do enjoy how, like many platformers inspired by Super Mario, each level introduce a new stage mechanic that you learn how to use and evolve with along the course of the level—however, the fact that you are quite often locked out of backtracking (meaning you have to redo parts of levels to get collectibles that you've missed) and can't look up or down (which, imo, is a staple of platformers that have collectibles), sometimes makes levels feel like a chore, rather than something fun. I also agree with user Little Headsman's review in that there feels like there is no progression. Sure, there's a lot of things to pick up, but it really feels like they don't add anything to the game other than maybe getting an achievement for doing so. I enjoy. Grapple Dog is a very charming game with fun character designs, with an enjoyable soundtrack. Gameplay wise is also good, the movement feels nice and everything flows really well, the levels designs/layouts are diverse and there be plenty of shiny things to collect!

It's a good platformer to kill some time, but maaan, I really couldn't be bothered 😭 I think it's going in the backlog, and I'll play it when I have my Steam Deck lol.

def going for platinum i feel this was very much worth a overwhelmingly positive review score but humans are just boring :| will definitely be copping cosmic canines such a fun game
