About Graveyard Girls

Graveyard Girls is a Halloween-themed visual novel about complicated grief and overcoming hardships. The game was shortlisted during the Spooktober 2021 Game Jam!

Collect Elle’s “Scribbles” to learn about her struggles, befriend a mysterious girl, and have a conversation about death.

"Grief isn’t a low. It’s a terrifying high, atop a mountain I never climbed."

Visiting her father's grave on Halloween was never the plan, but inexplicably, Elle finds herself drawn to the local cemetery.

Hoping to find a semblance of closure, she arrives at his graveside with a notebook clutched to her chest.

Sitting against his headstone, Elle talks to her dad for the first time in years.

Drowning in a downpour of memories, she closes her eyes and focuses on breathing.

Daylight slips away, but before Elle can leave, a stranger approaches.

When Elle and Lucia meet on Hallows Eve, two grieving worlds collide...

- Collect Elle’s “Scribbles” and learn about her struggles

- Halloween/Autumn Aesthetic

- Conversations about grief and normalizing questions about death

- Subtle romantic tones

- Short and free, most players will be able to finish the game in 1 hour!

Well worth a play. Its emotinal, is quiet heavy. It tells you how important it is to have someone who listens and dont judge you for who you are and says. That people handles grief in different ways and take different time to go trough it. That suddently grief hits and then a other day it doesnt. That is important to have someone there for you., It heartbreaking. Its sad , its emotinal. It tells you sometimes is okey to ask for help. The two characters is excellent and seems to work very well together. The music and artwork is also good.

If you are going through grief of lost loved ones, be careful. This is a very emotional story. There is no bad ending, but picking the negative options will limit your experience. Elle and Lucia have a beautiful story to share and a wonderful friendship to start. Picking Spooky made me uncomfortable. Taking a break made the story end too soon. Once you unlock all the pictures, you have some amazing artwork to look at. Don't forget to eat your pumpkin pie. Happy Halloween.

"Graveyard Girls" isn't a game. It's an e-book dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual novel/e-book/fan-fiction, this has no notable gameplay. It's just clicking through badly written dialogue that would never be accepted in print by an actual professional publisher. How did something this badly written end up on Steam? When someone can't get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam Direct under the guise of a game. This garbage e-book is all about the author and his imaginary girlfriends and their mental health problems. The writing, once more, is high school anime club dropout fan-fiction cringe. This was slapped together with the godawful Ren'Py visual novel construction kit... enabling terrible authors to publish books as if they were games when otherwise we might have been spared the pollution. So, just like no professional writing took place here, no professional software development took place, either. Visual novels/e-books are the worst way to try read a book (and they're always written far worse than real books too). Imagine reading your favorite book, be that War and Peace or The Davinci Code (are you ok??), but…

A look at grief that doesn't sugarcoat some of uglier parts of it.
