Please do yourself a favour and download this game to play through. Any dev who makes their VN free to read deserves to at least have their writing read with a fair shot. The feelings and emotions are so raw, and the story wastes no time in getting you on board with the main characters. As others have stated, the delicate dance between handling the subject matter of grief seriously and also showcasing a budding romance is one that could fall flat, but is instead executed in a way that simply feels... well, human. Feelings of intense anxiety, self-hatred, the knowing sensation of an oncoming panic attack. How sometimes therapy speak and counselling is far too cold and clinical. How we, with our pain, meet others with pain, and are able to use that shared experience to help each other and grow. The game is about grief, losing the ones we love due to them passing away. But anyone feeling they've lost a connection, or are mourning a bond, not necessarily the person themselves, can still relate to some of what is spoken about. Will definitely have to play again come Halloween time.

Oh gosh, this was a beautiful and heartfelt story. I enjoyed it and the art was very well done. I'd say the quality is definitely on the higher end, especially for a free and short VN. The only issue I had was that at times the skip feature wasn't working to skip text I'd already seen, but that's a very minor complaint.

Graveyard Girls is an emotional trip down a memory lane filled with grief. It's written surprisingly well and does not feel like it chose its subject matter to simply be an easy way to appeal to emotions, but rather to help process said emotions. I personally like the art style, and the understated music helps here. It's also a VN worth going through all the options available due to the memories opening up afterwards, but know that there are two ending variations - although they're not major, I would call them a "good ending" and a "normal ending" (basically [spoiler] if you completely open up as Elle then you'll get the "good ending" with the short epilogue). [/spoiler] Warning: this is surprisingly emotional, raw, and takes the subject matter seriously, so take its trigger warnings just as seriously. If you're dealing with grief or depression yourself and feel particularly sensitive about it then this may not be for you. So would I recommend this? Unless the above statement applies to you then yes, I'd honestly recommend this to most people. It's around an hour long (unless you read slowly), and is surprisingly emotional and well written. Well worth a play. Its emotinal, is quiet heavy. It tells you how important it is to have someone who listens and dont judge you for who you are and says. That people handles grief in different ways and take different time to go trough it. That suddently grief hits and then a other day it doesnt. That is important to have someone there for you., It heartbreaking. Its sad , its emotinal. It tells you sometimes is okey to ask for help. The two characters is excellent and seems to work very well together. The music and artwork is also good.

If you are going through grief of lost loved ones, be careful. This is a very emotional story. There is no bad ending, but picking the negative options will limit your experience. Elle and Lucia have a beautiful story to share and a wonderful friendship to start. Picking Spooky made me uncomfortable. Taking a break made the story end too soon. Once you unlock all the pictures, you have some amazing artwork to look at. Don't forget to eat your pumpkin pie. Happy Halloween.
