Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX 2

when i first played this game. i thought it was the worst gunvolt game. and then i heard people out. i listened to rumors of technical depth. i then picked the game back up and started playing it like a true tryhard aiming for high end of level ranks and going for overdrive as soon as possible. i learned the depth of the mechanics. yeah it's still the worst gunvolt game. feels even worse than i remember actually when i'm trying to play it like a true gamer. i don't have any idea what inti was thinking.

As a huge fan of the Gunvolt series I personally found this game really disappointing. The story felt rushed the gameplay was fine but I felt that they tried to make the game more difficult by adding a bunch of pitfalls. I still enjoyed the game but not as much as the other games in the series. I would recommend this game but only if you’re a fan of the Gunvolt series. I hope inticreates within the universe of Gunvolt as I am in love with this series.

Fun action oriented game overall! It's short but fun, but I do have issues with the air dash/dash tag being limited compared to previous games. That's the one issue I have other wise the game play is leaning heavily towards melee and some of the skill allow for more aggressive game play that lets you shred the bosses HP. It's a bit more on the easy side but still just as fun.

I want to like this game more than I do, like, I REALLY wanna like this game. But there's way too many little things holding it back. The bullit dash gameplay I loved from Copen's side of GV2 and LAiX 1? Nerfed so you only get 1 dash to use until you hit the ground, additionally the game gets hard cheesed by the free heal you can pop at any time removing any challenge from the bosses, not to mention the Razor Wheel gameplay just isn't the same as the endless shots from the 1st game. Plus locking the True Ending behind a Hard Mode with the same awful lives system as the Mega Man Zero series is just stupid even if the Normal Ending is still conclusive compared to the other games in the series. Plus for $10 more than the first game despite offering... basically the same amount of, if not less, content is just lame. That said, it's still a Gunvolt and Inti Creates game so it's still good fun if you can get past the little stuff but I can't recommend this game at full price, definitely something to snag if there's a sale and you're a Gunvolt fan though.

I respect the intent of trying to make a sequel that's not just more of the same, but I have to say, this felt like I stumbled into the wrong series and not in a good way. LAiX2 opens its story where the first left off, only for Copen to randomly get yoinked through a wormhole and sent to another dimension. The entire story has pretty much nothing to do with any of the other Gunvolt games, and feels completely random; like an excuse for a crossover with a game that doesn't exist. The plot goes on to imply some faintly intriguing things, but the true ending is locked behind an absurdly cruel hard mode that kills any interest in seeing it. Gameplay-wise, it also feels like a random left turn; Copen's gun is replaced with this random melee buzzsaw thing, and his mobility is extremely limited unless you go for a super high-kudos run (IE skip pretty much every checkpoint), with dashes being one per jump and the complete removal of his reload-slam move. This is not an improvement; half the fun of playing as Copen in GV2 and LAiX1 was his crazy movement. They also ditched Prevasion in favor of giving you the ability to just heal yourself fully whenever you want, which feels like an…
