Start game. Select a class (out of 4). Start session (solo or coop). Fight enemies and a boss. Find the portal to end session. Whoever entered the portal won that game session. Very basic gameplay. No looting of better equipment. No leveling. No skill point system or talent tree. No character customization. No reward for 'Winning'. No nothing. Just hit enemies with basic attacks and find the portal to end game session. I cant really recommend this, as this offers no replay value other than to first test it solo and then test it in coop and you kinda just wanna find that refund option.

I don't dislike the game but I can't bring myself to recommend it to the steam community. I learned of the game through a story on NPR - a group/class project at a local University in my area. I'm also always looking for good local-coop games to play together with my two boys. Technically, the game is flawless. Smooth fast graphics, highly responsive, no lag, great sound and pretty pictures. Also, I've always enjoyed rogue-like games and this was a nice twist. Unfortunately, that's about it in terms of gameplay. Not to be crass, but it feels like a school group project - a roguelike game made by committee that's a mile wide and an inch deep. Like any game, once the pretty pictures wear off, there needs to be something of substance behind it. Even the original nethack games had a leveling system - and with good reason! You need some reason to keep playing and go for just one more dungeon. More than 4 monsters and a few bosses would be a good start. I guess it's easier to give a school grade for solid graphics and technical savvy then it is to judge depth or playability. And having the goal of publishing to Steam is a good carrot to motivate students to meet a deadlin…

Plays sort of like an indie Diablo. Liked all of the classes; you have to experiment and find one to suit your playstyle. I thought I'd like the Knight the most, but so far the Archer is my favorite. It's not as good close up, but if you can get some distance and find an area to bottleneck the enemies, it's good for crowd control. Generally, I go room to room, then try and find either a boss, treasure, or an area to keep them at bay so I can rack up health drops. Overall it's definitely fun, but I think it's more suited towards playing with your friends. It's very difficult to play by yourself, but still fun. The music really puts a punctuation on everything and is really great. I'd love to see a few more modes and levels eventually, maybe even a campaign like a Spyro-esque mode where you teleport to different worlds and fight their bosses, but I understand that's a lot more work for the future. Great game and definitely recommending.

I would love to say I could recommend this game. It was recommended via Humble Bundle. I love hack and slash games. Cool fighter with an axe? Sure sign me up. OK so for starters, I again did no research on Steam, so my fault. But I travel for work, so I luckily had my controller or I'd not be doing anything. Then find out that even on the easiest difficulty setting there's legitimately not even a point to playing this by yourself. As others have said no depth to the character, the levels, monsters, or bosses. And in a solo experience you get overwhelmed by the regular monsters if you do find the boss. Spare me the "git guds" please. It just could have been so much more as it is beautiful, flawless technically, just at the end it has no depth and I can't think to force my friends to get this so I could even play it. The time that's on my account right now is probably all I'll ever play this. Which is sad given what it could have been.

As others have said, it's not awful, but it just doesn't feel like much of a purchasable game to me. It was the same frustrating map, and the skills aren't that diverse. It needs some sort of thing that makes me want to play it, some sort of reward or story. Unfortunately, it has neither, and I just can't bring myself to even ask my friends to buy it.

The game is too hard to begin with, and it seems too repetitive.
