I'm usually a positive fella when it comes to reviewing games but... Jesus, man. The controls were good and the gameplay mechanics were good too, but oh sweet lord, the AI is so bootycheeks, i had to ATTEMPT THE SAME ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ LEVEL 10 TIMES because of horrid 2000s AI. If you REALLY wanna play this, you better get ready to suffer because of the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI. Also, unlike other Hitman games, there is always only ONE SINGULAR way to completing missions, as far as i've seen. Not only that, but you have to figure out HOW to complete the object by yourself. No tips, no hints. All the game gives you are details of the mission, the objectives, the targets and a "good luck!!!".3 found this helpful
- Hitman: Codename 47 was the game that started the entire Hitman series. - You buy it because you want to complete your Hitman collection. - You launch it because you want to see how the franchise originated. - Then you actually play it. - You quickly realize this game has aged terribly. - There's no save system, so one mistake means replaying the mission. - Then the controls hit you. - Instead of WASD, the default movement uses SZXC, which you can't even change. You try to sprint by pressing Shift like every other PC game - Except you have to press W instead. - Once you finally get used to the controls - The game glitches. - Or you die. - Congratulations. - You're replaying the last 20 minutes again. - Then you lowkey just start banging your head against the wall. 10/10 misery. - It's also a perfect example of why some games are better remembered than replayed. - My guidance ends here, walk the path well and guard your spirit stones until the heavens bring you together with Nanashixy’s next heavenly scripture.2 found this helpful
The game doesn't properly communicate what breaks your disguise. The AI is also strange. It does not investigate sounds (I think), but a guard in combat can instantly recruit other nearby guards (even through walls, or floors). This reveals your disguise to the other guard, even if they have never seen you. But guards do not communicate your disguise between each other outside of combat, which makes being compromised strangely un-punishing. Guards can also see behind themselves a little. This includes them seeing what you're holding. Holding a piano wire always breaks your disguise (for some reason), which turns sneaking behind guards unnecessarily precise. Quite possibly, the worst game I've ever played. Do not play this game. It's a Pre-Alpha disguised as a full game. Play any other Hitman game. Many mission have been remade in Hitman: Contracts excluding Columbia which is a blessing and maybe more I'm not sure. If you want the authentic experience see a walkthrough, this game almost never has more than one solution so your playthrough wouldn't differ much than a walkthrough, just less infuriating
It is a very funny and goofy game with ragdoll physics while also providing a crippling sense of urgency to escape with the assassination successfully.
Playing this game in 2026 is way too hard if u play in hard mode, it will test u a lot.
