You have been sent to the island of Kanaan to find an abandoned research facility of the "Third Reich".
During the briefing, you received information that the facility was engaged in researching parallel dimensions and collecting information about ancient deities.
There are various legends about the island of Kanaan, some say that it was once inhabited by a tribe worshiping ancient sea deities. Others claim that the control over the island belonged to the fish people.
Four months earlier, tectonic tremors occurred throughout the archipelago, as a result of which tsunami waves rolled through the islands, but by some coincidence they missed Kanaan, but many of the buildings were damaged or collapsed.

Hydra is a detective game with survival horror elements. The main character's condition is described by three parameters: health, endurance and sanity. The player's task during the adventure is to keep these parameters at a decent level. Seth's character can die from the damage dealt, but he can also fall into madness. Endurance describes how long our character can run, parry blows or attack with melee weapons.

The player can use two different perspectives. From an isometric perspective, the hero can fight in contact using a melee weapon and also parry opponents' attacks. In first-person mode, we see what Seth sees through his eye implants. Seth was injured and lost his eyesight during one of his missions for the NML corporation. The corporation was "gracious" enough to provide him with the cheapest eye implants so that he could continue working for them. The implants have a night vision and environmental analysis mode that can mark useful elements of the environment.

During the investigation, we will find various useful items such as weapons, notes, food, medicines and utility items related to our task.

On our way, we will also encounter characters who may be able to provide us with helpful information or will be unfavorable towards us. The island of Kanaan is also a place where terrifying creatures come out of the dark sea.

The game has five ending variants, depending on the player's actions.

✦ AI summary

Players praise Hydra as a unique and atmospheric old-school survival horror game with engaging puzzle-solving, rewarding combat, and an interesting perspective-switching mechanic that blends third-person exploration with first-person shooting. The main complaint centers on tedious backtracking and occasional confusion about where to find key items needed for progression, though the developer is noted as responsive and helpful to players stuck on such issues.

I really enjoyed this, it's got a super unique style and a great atmosphere. Getting the 100% felt a little tedious because there was lot of backtracking across the map, forgetting the thing I needed to progress and returning to the closest stash. Besides this, I had a lot of fun with the combat, the enemies are fast and keep you on your toes and switching perspective with TAB is a cool gimmick. I really enjoyed the sort of stripped down survival horror this game is, and it was definitely worthwhile. I'd definitely recommend this to people who enjoy shorter games by developers with unique approaches to game design. Night vision is super useful, it's the N button.

Pleasant, old-school horror puzzle game. Dark and eerie setting reminds me of H.P. Lovecraft works. Combat can be a little tricky, but it is rewarding. Some enemies are better to kite with a mele weapon, rather than spending ammo on them.

Hydra is an survival horror game with two modes - third person for questing and first person for shooting. Yeah, interesting indeed. You play as Seth - and agent searching for scientific data in a abandoned Third Reich bunker. The game world is set in an alternate future - the year is 2039 and the germans have lost WWII, but our world is an dark place filled with monsters and secrets. Now about the game...i feel it could be a great one. Perhaps is a great game. The only problem is that during the creation of this video, i didn't managed to find the crowbar, which obviously is needed for any progress. And as i intend to play the game more in my stream, please, let me know where the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crowbar is :D Video: https://youtu.be/LfJ1l7dOErg
