The game

I Make Saints is a short first-person psychological horror walking simulator which can be completed in 30 minutes.

Wander the personal hell of a deranged individual and discover the true nature of their terrible crimes through notes, objects and saintly icons left over different atmospheric and at times surreal environments.

I Make Saints is a raw, demanding work attempting to make sense of the most despicable acts. Some souls are so damaged that they end up damaging others. Some minds seeking redemption are nonetheless irredeemable. Some dark obsessions take hold and won't let go. Welcome to guilt.

Features

  • Four varied environments to explore : surreal, improbable places that feel like a dark dreamscape
  • Low risk gameplay : no enemies putting the player in danger, just a tense and heavy atmosphere
  • Disturbing narrative : true-crime style events are implied, but never shown

What's new in Steam Edition

Similar to a director's cut, this version of I Make Saints contains material that was originally cut from the initial release, such as :
  • An entirely new environment : walk the halls of the orphanage and shed some light on the past of the protagonist
  • Unused dark ambient musical track has been added back to the game
  • Minor changes to existing environments to ensure a better flow throughout

Something tells me maybe it wasn't the wisest idea to play this while sleep deprived, suffering from an infection, emotionally distant shortly following a dentist visit and feeling the after effects of puking a glass worth of blood from the mouth at roughly 6AM.

I Make Saints explores extremely dark and unsettling themes that some players may find deeply disturbing. Even though it isn't a traditional horror game at its core it's more of a walking and reading simulator it manages to get under my skin in a way that very few games can. The way it tells its story is incredibly powerful, creating a sense of dread without relying on direct scares. I genuinely believe that even seasoned horror fans might find themselves feeling uncomfortable while playing it.

An incredibly disturbing and dark horror game. It tells its story in a subtle and deeply unsettling way, especially through the notes you find. The game does an impressively good job of diving into the psyche of a perpetrator, which makes the entire experience extremely oppressive. Even though it’s only about 30 minutes long, it manages to create an intense horror experience that you don’t easily forget.

Super fun, if you like bad parenting 2, this is the game for you. It's short, aesthetically pleasing, and really encompasses everything indie psychological horror games are all about.

Extremely bleak, effective short horror experience that puts you in the mind of a serial killer and hints toward certain things explicitly while letting you draw your own conclusions about other aspects of this character's motivations and deeds. Has kind of a David Fincher grime to it.
