Tasked with completing bizarre & nonsensical phrases each round, each correct action (keystroke) increases your combo count; the more accurately you type, the higher you'll ultimately score (as each incorrect action or typo resets the combo counter). Unfortunately, as you progress through the rounds (following successful completion of a phrase), the assessment increasingly shifts from a test of your typing skills to a test of your reaction skills. Ice Cream Typer is a surprisingly fun little typing game, and I liked how quickly it turns something as ordinary as typing into a stressful arcade challenge. The whole idea is simple. I get a strange word or phrase, type it as quickly and accurately as I can, and then immediately have to deal with a harder round. It has a silly presentation, but the pressure ramps up much faster than I expected. The main gameplay is all about speed and accuracy. Every round gives me less time to finish the prompt, so I have to find a rhythm and avoid wasting even a few seconds. I enjoyed the feeling of starting comfortably and then suddenly having to type almost on instinct. It is a simple test, but when the timer gets tight, even familiar words can become surprisingly difficult. I also liked the scoring system because fast and accurate typing is rewarded with better scores and combos. That gives me a reason to replay instead of simply treating each attempt as a one time challenge. I found myself wanting to improve my typing speed and keep a combo going for as long as possible.
