About Idle Asteroids

Destroy. Upgrade. Destroy some more.

Welcome to Idle Asteroids, an explosive upgrade on the arcade classic. Watch your spaceship, face endless waves of escalating cosmic threats, and destroy them!Whether you want to actively dodge and weave through a bullet hell of space rocks, or build an automated dreadnought that destroys everything in its path, Idle Asteroids delivers that satisfying "numbers go up" while I watch things blow up  feeling all while wrapped in comfy arcade nostalgia.

💥 Build Your Arsenal

Start simple and evolve into a asteroid-clearing war machine.
 • Weapons: Upgrade your cannon, launch homing missiles, deploy explosive mines and more to vaporize enemies getting too close.
 • Special Abilities: Overwhelmed? Drop a Singularity black hole to suck in nearby asteroids, or when all else fails why not launch a Nuclear Warhead, it's the only way to be sure.
 • Tactical Defense: Upgrade your Hull, recharge your Shields, and master the Warp Dash!

🌌 Escalating Cosmic Threats

The universe doesn't want you here, and it will throw increasingly complex dangers your way:
 • Asteroids: We have an endless supply of space rocks that just need to be turned into cosmic dust.
 • Flying Saucers: The eternal foe.  We don't remember why, we just shoot on sight.
 • And more devious enemies as you progress through the rounds and levels.

⚙️ Deep Permanent Progression

With over 50 upgrades across multiple categories, every run matters.
 • Active vs. Idle Play: Tap or click anywhere to manually deal damage to the nearest enemy, or invest heavily in Mining Drones that autonomously harvest asteroids for passive income.
 • Infinite Scaling: Push your Best Round to increase your Universal Player Bonus, a global multiplier that makes every future upgrade even more powerful.
 • AFK: Level up your automation enough, and you can comfortably idle through earlier rounds while your drones and auto-turrets do the work.

🕹️ Pure Retro Aesthetics

Dive into nostalgia with crisp, color-coded vector graphics. Idle Asteroids embraces its roots with a classic feel of the arcade original.Features at a Glance:
 • Seamless blend of classic arcade survival and modern idle/incremental progression.

A fun little idle battler - it does what it says on the tin. When in idle mode, ship does a pretty convincing job of dodging and attacking, impressed with the coding, given how chaotic the screen can become with asteriods careening all over the place! Costs about the same as a cup of coffee, so can't really go too wrong here. Disclaimer: I am friends with the developer, but tried not to let this influence my review

Idle & Incremental Lovers recommends Vibe Idler : Pretty mesmerizing to watch this arcade classic survival auto-played with near perfection. Arsenal upgrades are fun, but the prestige mechanic is underwhelming and the "ending" is anti-climatic. + Nostalgia. It's faithful to the original in many ways. + The addition of enjoyable arsenal upgrades (weapons, defense, pilot and score) is a great incremental take on the original. + I love that the game is an idler but you can still choose to play it manually. Spoiler: the auto-play is 1000 times better than you are! (But it's really fun to watch.) - When I finally got to level 2 after 15 hours and 50 rounds of play, I was back to round 1 an lost all my upgrades, without any message or sense of victory. I was idling and thought it was a (loose all your progress) bug when I came back from eating. Thanks to a new sort of red asteroid (and one of the last achievements for shooting it), I finally understood that I was in level 2, which is basically the same game at a harder difficulty. I know it's an endless score-attack game (faithful to the arcade spirit of the original Asteroids), but this was a pretty anti-climatic way to "bea…

Im 80% sure this is a vibe coded game. There are seemingly design choices and features that just dont seen to track fo rme as a human. For example, "End Run" exists as a button in a game that doesn't really have... runs? It quits you to the main menu. Some upgrades like "Ai Targeting" vs "Rotation" are similar on paper and have unclear impact in game. The ship seems to move at the same speed at level 1 vs max level afterburners. Obviously poorly designed mechanics like an abysmal / glitchy prestige system I simply refuse to believe were actually designed or tested by a human developer. On its own, I dont inherently mind the idea of a vibecoded app if its fun. This is on paper the kind of game Im always chasing, part idle and part active. I just wish the entire package was more appealing and better thought out. The shining part here is that the dev is updating the game VERY often. I would have had more lenience if the game had been released into early access. In the week its been out we've seen many systems rehauled. If the pace continues, this could be a really sharp game in a few months.
