Took a while to get this game figured out. This is a tower shooter type game and the player bugs weapons to defend the train from attacks. The design is not the most intuitive but the level of detail is rather good for a student project. The idea of the gane is to equip cars with guns to shoot critters that come from the rear of the train and zigzag to the front. I played this on my Dell Precision 3480 with Intel Xe Arc graphics and RTX A500 graphics.6 found this helpful
"Iron Line" is a student project from Breda University. This year the students made a basic tower defense strategy game. You are a train conductor defending cargo on a dangerous track called the Iron Line. The player places and upgrades turrets to repel waves of enemies attacking the train as it moves towards its destination. The only "train" bit is that the map is split up into separate carriages... whatever makes the students happy I guess. The graphics in this game are passable, but could be better. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. On the matter of pricing and value for gamers, most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's often nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, or any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really does appear to be a fully free game. Nothing demonstrates a developers belief in themselves and their…3 found this helpful
Didn't enjoy the mechanics of this game, I would not recommend it. 3/10
I thought it was a decent effort, still some bugs remaining (e.g. menus staying open indefinitely) and probably a bit too easy, but an acceptable simple tower defence.
Iron Line Positives: + Good idea + Quite fun + Ok graphics + Ok sounds + Its free Negatives: - The bugs (like errors, not in-game enemies) - Difficulty balancing is a bit off - Gets repetetive and monotonus after a little while - Short length (unless you want do the exact same thing over and over) Im not very into tower defense games, but this was quite a fun one. Its got some problems, but its tolerable. And its free and short, so give it a try if you havent played it before. Total Score: 6.5/10
