"It Lurks in the Woods" is a garbage Unity asset flip... a bunch of assets stolen off the Unity Asset Store and rearranged badly on a first person adventure game blueprint to make one of many thousands of first person jumpscare Unity asset flips on Steam. The only difference with this one is it's slightly worse than the usual Russian ones and the scam pricing is laid out differently. The game graphics look better than you might expect, but that's just because it looks like some or all of them are "borrowed" from asset stores or wherever. Gamers can tell... and it comes across as insincere. There's also the old adage that those who lack the budget and talent to make their own game assets usually lack the budget and talent to do the rest of the job of game development properly, too. This is only free in a rudimentary sense... the developer has their hand out for an eye watering FIFTY TWO UNITED STATES DOLLAR "donation" for this as you're expected to buy some extra empty DLC from Steam... digital panhandling. It Lurks in the Woods is a short first-person horror adventure that builds its identity around isolation, historical atmosphere, and French Canadian folklore. Rather than attempting to overwhelm the player with complicated survival mechanics or continuous action, it focuses on the uncomfortable experience of traveling through a wilderness where something unnatural appears to be watching from beyond the trees. i liked it but didnt like it, as a whole yes. i dont know how i feel about the ghost body bags and that light orb, but for the most part yes it was nice and eerie. i cant read Running Writing well, so i read the hints the best i could and ignored the notes. also, when the forest chase scene there was no clue where to go, so i had to redo that like 10 times.
