About ItLivesInTheWoods
NOTE: The game focuses on exploration and builds tension slowly to create a deeper and more meaningful experience. Its story is unveiled through surreal cinematic imaging. Estimated completion time: 1.5hours.-How far will you go to reunite with your lost daughter?
ItLivesInTheWoods is a first-person psychological horror game set in Canada in modern times.
Plot
You will experience a linear story that has multiple endings, with mystery and twists.
Everything was well before your daughter, Sarah, mysteriously disappeared in the forest during a hiking trip a month ago. You don't know what happened to your daughter or if she is still alive. You only know you want her back safely in your arms again.
The deeper you go into the forest, the more you will question what is real and what is not.
Environment
The game is developed with a sense of hyper-realism to create a visually stunning and memorable experience powered by Unreal Engine 5.
You will explore a rich procedurally generated forest where the more you explore, the more you will unearth the reality of your daughter. However, in doing so will also introduce you to certain evil, of which you must overcome to reunite with your daughter. Some things you encounter will seem surreal, and may actually be so.
Can you trust your eyes?
Gameplay
You will uncover minor puzzles and cues of which you must complete to understand your surroundings and progress in the game. Objects in the game are inspectable and/or interactable, where some will enrich the story with new information or backstory, and some will simulate the environment for realism.
Perhaps you will be face-to-face with an evil which will test your survival skills until either you are defeated or it.

For a small indie creator's first-ever project, some of the harsh mixed reviews are unjustified. The game builds a deeply mysterious and scary atmosphere that successfully motivates you to push forward and uncover its secrets. The gameplay loop keeps you engaged despite the minimal guidance. The only notable issue at the moment is optimization, as performance taxes older GPUs heavily and causes frame drops. this is an indie title rather than a AAA game... players should not expect a next-generation horror experience, however, it delivers exceptional value for what it offers3 found this helpful
ItLivesInTheWoods is the quintessential horror experience. The game respects my intelligence and it's a small yet meaningful story. There is so much heart put into the gameplay and at just under 2 hours, it's an easy in and easy out adventure. I found myself intrigued and mortified at every turn and couldn't wait to see where the game took me. The game is definitely SHOW not TELL. crafted masterfully. IF YOU LOVE HORROR AND MYSTERY- WOULD RECOMMEND.1 found this helpful
This game keeps you glued to the screen. This is what matters most and as a first outing from a solo developer is really promising !1 found this helpful

What on earth is this? Thanks to UE5, here’s yet another title I’d classify as “junk.” It’s not even worth this low price. The beginning is promising, with the forest looking great and creating a fantastic atmosphere. But what immediately stands out as a negative right from the start is the voice acting. What happened to the voice actors? The father sounds like he’s taken too many sleeping pills. Completely sleepy, boring, and emotionless. It completely ruins the atmosphere and makes the game seem cheap right away and not exciting in the slightest. The voice acting for the creature you encounter at the end is also completely botched. Just a faint breath and a whisper. Is that supposed to be scary? The flashlight and lighter (I have no idea why you have both) do have a durability meter in the inventory, but it's impossible to deplete it in any way. It was probably included to give the impression that these items have limited usability, but in reality, the meters could have just been left out. In the second half, the forest doesn’t play a major role anymore, and the atmosphere is gone. The jump scares are cheap and don’t scare you, and you don’t really get scared in general eith…
Amazing game. I lost 5 years of my life thanks to the jumpscares.
