Don't let its age fool you—Jets'n'Guns Gold has aged remarkably well. The visuals still hold up, the soundtrack is excellent, and the gameplay is just as addictive as ever. Blasting through waves of enemies while upgrading your ship never gets old. The only downside is the Steam achievement list. Earning 100% requires a fair amount of grinding and dedication. That said, if you're an achievement hunter or simply enjoy a good challenge, you'll likely find the grind rewarding rather than frustrating. Overall, Jets'n'Guns Gold is an outstanding classic shoot 'em up that still deserves a place in every fan's library. Highly recommended.

I love it. It's a really fun classic space shooter. There are multiple upgradable ships, and you can change and upgrade your weaponry. All of that is unlocked by game progression (and a couple of secrets). The gameplay is quite simple to understand, and the difficulty is interesting. The story is probably the weakest point. To be fair, I think it's kinda dumb. There are some sexual/dirty jokes, and also some "pee/poo" kinda jokes. It's not bad, it makes the whole absurdity of the game itself have some sense, but don't expect more of it. It's... ok. The music is it's strongest point. The whole OST is made by Machinae Supremacy. I have to confess I have a weak spot with that band, but even with that I think everyone agrees that the OST is pretty much immaculate. The game uses a "reset" mechanic, where you get to the last level and then go back to the beggining but with increased difficulty. Because of that I recommend to start in EASY. The difficulty is already there when you "reset". If you want to "punish/challenge" yourself you can start with a higher difficulty, but I don't really recommend it. One warning: If you want to 100%, be prepared for a long grind. Some achievements …
If you don't know: The band Machinae Supremacy did this soundtrack, which is why its so good. Check them out. I bought both these games just for that.
