What a terrific idea: teach via gaming. This is a lovely story & enjoyable prelude to what is intended to be a full game. Play this for the fun of it, to consider the possibilities & positivities of gaming, & to support the team behind it. I will buy full version in hope that we all find better ways to deliver fact-based info to the world.
"Julia: A Science Journey" is a complete disaster from every single direction you see it from... it just keeps getting worse. Let's break it down. But first, what is this? It's touted as an "educational" game that pushes mental health and political agendas (an amazing double-whammy of things that must never be done, and that's just the start). This is more of an e-book than a game (ugh) that follows a schoolgirl (why are amateur developers so obsessed with schoolgirls) during the COVID-19 pandemic, and the developer pushes his own unqualified ideas at gamers in an attempt to educate gamers on Steam. Not to put too fine a point on it, but at no point ever should video games be trying to educate you on matters of virology or mental health. Worse... this isn't even the game!! It's just a demo/prologue/advertisement but the developer couldn't be bothered making the rest of it. This is just here to pollute Steam. An advertisement for political indoctrination. Now lets talk about the purpose of this garbage, which, of course, is totally unrelated to gaming (and gaming is why we are here). Trying to address serious issues such as mental and emotional health through the medium …
So despite my cool rectangular text in a field box exterior I do like a quiz and if your like me and your digestive system has mutated in the melding of an alien micro parasite in an abduction leaving me only able to eat notes and currency then free is hopefully cheap enough for you! A story based questionnaire about science in the age of corruption (2020 covid) and viral warfare with some timing mini games, it is just part 1 not bad quiz though! enjoyed answering the questions and its free so why not!
It's a lacking story on COVID and a research data gathering mechanism. Illustration style was nice but lacked voicing and the gameplay mechanics when they occurred were not great.
