Kimono Cats is praised as an addictive and charming idle sim with engaging mini-games and rewarding collection mechanics that appeals to completionists. However, players express concern about the lack of developer communication and content updates over several months, along with incomplete features like the postcard system that feel underdeveloped or lack clear purpose.
My friend jokingly sent me this game, saying "Play this Kimono RAT game, and gaze upon how horrid and unplayable this waste of $2 is". We're part of a club you see, the Game Hating Lutherans (Ohio Chapter). We decide on a terrible game once a month and meet to chat about it during Bible study. I decided to trust Bernice and purchase Kimono Cats, hoping to be met with something so despicable I could get hours of material for our meeting. When I booted up the game though, I was met with something.... Else. They say beauty isn't something you can easily bottle and put in a cat themed video game, and yet that's exactly what HumaNature Studios did. With every dart I threw at the activity containing bubbles, I felt a rush of excitement and whimsy. With each heart my cat partner gained, I could feel myself falling in love with this game.... Dare I say... experience. I found myself sinking any free time I could muster into improving my cats virtual relationship. I began to lose touch with what was real and what wasn't. My love for the game was beginning to morph into a genuine love for my virtual partner. Each time she received a lizard filled rice ball form me, I felt such great ang…4 found this helpful
Kimono Cats is an odd one. There's so many shiny bells and whistles and fun stuff constantly popping up that you can't help but be entertained. The premise is that you're a cat on a date with another cat at a matsuri (Japanese festival), and there are always ~3-8 bubbles with pictures floating around over your head. Popping these bubbles will yield good results (a treat such as shaved ice or taiyaki for your date) or negative ones (don't select the poop bubble if you want your date to stay happy...). It can be tricky to hit the bubble you want because they're constantly overlapping each other. There are 118 different bubbles to discover, and some of them have mini games associated with them. There's 18 in all, and they're simple but satisfying, and all festival themed -- flip fans in a memory match game, put together a simple jigsaw puzzle depicting one of multiple festival scenes, play whack-a-mole with masks, catch falling dango on a stick, etc. Doing well earns you coins that you can use to buy town decorations and new cat skins, or hearts from your date which lead to presents. You can also visit others' towns and gift them darts and presents. Overall it's a fun, cute time, an…2 found this helpful
As of addiction this game is at the top! Absolutely a must for completists! Unlocking every item will take a lot of time!! Problems I’m having right now: -devs have not patched or added content or even a timeline as of yet…I’m hoping this is not a quick money maker and they drop off leaving the game and it’s players to rot…please devs comment or at least add a few things it has been 4 months and no word…. -Post card collection is a MUST maybe allow people to add some stickers or a phrase and allow a board that you can add your post cards from your friends?? Something needs to be implemented there it feels like it just a quick idea with no purpose if all we can do is throw them away or keep them in the mailbox! -add friend option without steam friends!! Maybe a code when you are online so you can have friends instead of visitors! It seems so impersonal! My friend is only my friend when online? And to play with others I have to add them to my steam friend list which is totally not my thing for people who don’t know me personally to have to add me to play in my Kimono Cats town?? -ROTATE OPTION PLEASE!🙏 I want to be as customizable with all my unlockables and I just cannot with n…1 found this helpful
