KnightLight

KnightLight is a short game. More like a test or demo. Exploration is good. The music is plain.

It's...cute? It's short, at least. It doesn't have a whole lot to recommend it, but it's pleasant enough. My impression was probably affected by the fact that when I started, I had no light and was moving around in the dark (which I thought was the point of the game). When I died, I had a light, but it went away when I read the first sign, and I couldn't jump up on the platform. Eventually I discovered that *turning off fullscreen* fixed that, but to start out with a gamebreaking bug wasn't great.

Great game, but it felt incomplete, like it was a tiny chunk cut out of a much larger game. I'd love to play a full version of this some time.

KnightLight, developed by Luminosity and published by DigiPen Institute of Technology, is a compact puzzle-platformer that builds its entire identity around the interaction between light and darkness. Created as a student project, it carries a clear sense of focus, choosing to refine a single core idea rather than expand into a broader, more complex experience. You take control of a small, glowing being navigating a world shrouded in shadow, where visibility is limited and every step forward depends on how effectively you can illuminate your surroundings. The defining mechanic is the way light functions not just as a visual aid, but as a fundamental gameplay system. Much of the environment remains hidden until you actively reveal it, forcing you to move cautiously and think ahead. This creates a slower, more deliberate pace compared to traditional platformers, where reflexes often take priority. Here, awareness and planning are more important, as hazards, pathways, and interactive elements only become clear when exposed to light. The basic platforming mechanics combined with the lovely SFX take me back to the Miniclip era.

I love this game, it was so much fun to play. It would be awesome if it was a bit longer.
