Night Lights offers enjoyable puzzle-solving with good visual and sound design, but is severely hampered by persistent bugs—particularly with item disappearance and the lamp mechanic—that frequently force players to restart from scratch, with no level reset option. The game's brevity (2-3 hours) and lack of guidance also leave some players underwhelmed, though those who do complete it generally find the puzzles satisfying once they understand the mechanics. Most players recommend waiting for significant bug fixes or purchasing on sale, as the current state makes it difficult to recommend at fu
Night Lights is not a bad game per se. The different levels are actually pretty fun to figure out. The main issue is that the game has a buggy saving system, which can lead to game-breaking bugs that force you to start over, as it only has a single autosave. The game gives the impression that there is a vast map of puzzle rooms to explore freely in any order. However, if you decide to leave a puzzle before fully completing it — perhaps because you feel stuck and want to finish it later — the game will save the current state of the puzzle, but sometimes with errors. Specific items you need to progress can mysteriously disappear, and unfortunately, the game does not offer any option to fully reset a level. If you decide to get this game, I can only recommend never leaving a room before fully completing it. By "completing a room," I mean unlocking the exit portal and making sure to collect all the crystals in the room before leaving. I doubt the bugs will ever be fixed. I saw a post in the forum from 2022 where some players encountered one of the two bugs I experienced. Additionally, both the developer and publisher names have disappeared from the game stores title page, which migh…5 found this helpful
Cannot recommend for the shear volume of game breaking bugs, all involving the "lamp". I've restarted this game from scratch 4 times only to find, yet another instance of "lamp" breaking bug (not about to restart the game for a 5th time) - and I also noticed that the achievements are not unlocking, even though I've completed the requirement for either "flames" or abilities. Please, don't install or purchase this game. It should have never left early access. If the game wasn't as broken as it is, then I would have given it a better review.4 found this helpful
Great concept—I've been excited to try this ever since I saw Jacksepticeye and Markiplier play the demos. I truly enjoyed the puzzle-solving; the challenges were genuinely tough and often took me by surprise, leaving a satisfying sense of accomplishment with every solved puzzle. There were a few early glitches with level restarts, but I'm sure these will be sorted out with some fine-tuning updates. If you manage to avoid having to restart repeatedly (I did twice, lol), you'll get about three hours of gameplay. A couple of levels had moments where it wasn't immediately obvious that jumping was an option; I spent ages trying alternative solutions before realizing my initial idea was actually correct. Overall, a fun and engaging experience that’s definitely worth checking out if you love a good puzzle challenge.1 found this helpful
I mean...I did finish this game. It was short and sweet, but it's nothing special. Play it if you get it on sale and just want to kill 2 hours, but you're not missing anything special if you skip this one.1 found this helpful
Warning! There are still plenty of bugs in the game! But I really liked visual and sound design and puzzle mechanics. Game is short and nice. Consider purchasing on sale or when all the bugs are fixed,
This game is confusing. There's no guidance. I never really knew what to do.
