I like the genre as awhole so im reccomending this to a fan of the genre. the MC's line is a bit generic, your typical long aotian protagonist, but again, a big fan of the genre. I hope the developer keeps on making wuxia games, cant wait for something more open world and story rich. I want to be able to establish the Sichuan Tang Family or maybe make my own sect one day

I almost hate how invested I got in this game because y'all, this is a long haul game. The world doesn't seem vast but there are layers and layers and those layers have layers of what you can get into. The drawback of this is that it's possible to back your folks into a corner where they're not amped up enough for the quests available, so be careful of that. I was surprised by how the storylines got me, especially for most of this being pixel art. (The dialogue drawings of the characters are gorgeous, though.) The death of one character wrecked me, so good on the game devs for creating story arcs I care about. The music is pretty and the fight scenes are okay--not wildly intuitive, especially if you're not used to turn-by-turn skill-dev fight games. But the gameplay is engaging and the quests are interesting and even the pixel art is pretty. Absolutely recommend, even when it's infuriating.

This is a great game with a ton of passion poured into it, and is totally worth picking up at the price. But it's not without its frustrations, so know these before jumping in: [list] [*] The game is rife with points where going somewhere or talking to someone in the wrong order may lock you into a certain outcome without any context that this may happen to you, so you have to keep several active save files. [*] Related to above and keeping several save points: particularly on your first playthrough, you may be moving along smoothly but suddenly end up in a VERY difficult 1:1 fight with no warning that you MUST win in order to move forward in the game. [*] On first playthrough it is not entirely obvious which companion characters you should continue investing bonus EXP and good items into if you want to win all of the important fights. [*] Some DLC has been merged into the vanilla game while Secrets of the Eastern Sea hasn't, making online guides a little messy if you're trying to min/max. [*] Even by wuxia standards the plotlines can get very convoluted as you move deeper into the game. [/list]
