About Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem
――When the boundary between life and death breaks away,
I offer your soul a parting kiss.
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger's Requiem is a gothic horror Touhou action game, boasting remastered HD graphics, fully-voiced lines by professional voice actresses, and even more content for the game.
In the game, Sakuya Izayoi takes the center stage, set to the story of her having to head to the Scarlet Devil Castle that was certainly gone before. There, she hopes to find Remilia and her other Scarlet Devil Mansion companions who have all gone missing, alongside hints to the whereabouts of the spring that won't come.
Popular illustrator Banpai Akira returns, adding a bold, dark edge to the character designs while keeping their original charm, all set to the entertaining action elements of floating amidst a barrage of bullets.
On top of that, this powered up version of the game has been improved in every way, providing players with elegant sound, beautiful graphics, and smooth controls.
In addition, it features an epilogue that unlocks after clearing the main story.
As an upgrade to the original version, this version features a boss rush mode, Reimu Hakurei, protagonist of the previous game, as a playable character, and more.
《 GAME FEATURES 》
● A story that plays out as you converse and fight with
charming characters-turned-bosses from the Touhou Project
Sakuya Izayoi, maid of the Scarlet Devil Mansion, steps into the protagonist role.
In her search for Remilia and her other Scarlet Devil Mansion companions who've gone missing, along with the whereabouts of the spring that just won't come... Sakuya must head for the mysteriously reappeared Scarlet Devil Castle.
Defeat the enemies rushing toward you as you make your way through each stage in order to deal with familiar Touhou Project boss characters who await your arrival.
If you're able to survive the colorful barrage of bullets headed your way, maybe, just maybe, Remilia awaits...
● A more stylish kind of action
Sakuya Izayoi specializes in close-ranged attacks with her blades.
Along with her 'flight' ability that allows her to freely soar through the air for a set amount of time, a new 'backstep' action has been added, allowing players to avoid enemy attacks during fights.
In addition to these, special attacks like 'Soul Sculpture,' 'kick,' 'backstep knife throw,' and more have been added, allowing a more stylish sort of play.
● Powered up sub-weapons/ Partner summon system!
In this game, you may equip up to three sub-weapons or partner summons before selecting a stage.
These sub-weapons include Sukaya's preferred knife throw and her pocket watch that can stop time. She can also summon partners from the Touhou series who will attack with their own skills.
Feel out the timing of sub-weapon and partner summon use to sway the battles in your favor.
● Battle within a rainbow of bullets! Struggle against popular Touhou characters!
Sakuya Izayoi heads to the Scarlet Devil Castle in search of Remilia and her other companions, who have all suddenly disappeared.
Standing in her way is none other than the Yakumo family. What purpose lies beneath the movements of these girls, and where in the world is the spring that won't come...?
Will Sakuya be able to find her Scarlet Devil Mansion companions and the whereabouts of the spring that won't come within this colorful hail of bullets...?!

From the number of reviews, it looks like Koumajou Remilia II's release has attracted much less attention than the original did when it finally came to Steam. It's unfortunate because, back in 2011 already, I could see that Frontier Aja took a good look at the first game and sought to improve it. Sakuya, now the protagonist, is more agile (also thanks to not having a needlessly long walk cycle) and her jump physics much less iffy. Flight, while still useful, can no longer be done indefinitely as it's connected to a gauge under the health, even if it recharges quickly. The same gauge allows to launch a multi-slash attack that is less powerful than a single hit but covers a wider area, perfect against annoyances like enemy projectiles and bats. There is a wider selection of secondary attacks: knives and time stop are in line with Sakuya's abilities from the shmups, while the rest of the special attacks come from other Touhou girls joining Sakuya from level to level. Reimu's special is quite useful, being an equivalent of the Castlevania cross-boomerang. Sakuya's method of dodging is also much more convenient, as she leaps back instead. The level design is quite…2 found this helpful
Koumajou Remilia Ⅱ: Stranger’s Requiem, developed by Frontier Aja and CFK Co., Ltd. and published by CFK Co., Ltd., is a deliberately old-school 2D action platformer that leans heavily into its gothic influences while embracing the identity of the Touhou universe. It doesn’t attempt to modernize the genre in a dramatic way; instead, it refines a familiar formula built on precision, timing, and persistence. The result is a game that feels like a love letter to classic action platformers, offering a focused and challenging experience that rewards mastery over accessibility. The gameplay follows a linear progression through a series of stages, each filled with tightly placed enemies and environmental hazards that demand careful navigation. Movement is intentionally deliberate, with attacks and jumps requiring commitment, which adds weight to every decision the player makes. Combat is straightforward but effective, with a primary attack supported by a selection of sub-weapons that provide additional utility. Managing these tools becomes an important part of survival, as resources are limited and must be used strategically. The overall design emphasizes consistency and learning, encour…1 found this helpful
THE BEST 2HUVANIA Remilia mode when tho1 found this helpful
Literally, it is the first game featuring the cast from Touhou 6 to 7. Better enemies, mechanics, and extras overall. I just don't like the fact that your flight is limited.1 found this helpful
I am not a fan of the writing. The game play is fine but but boss battles really seemed (thus far) to be more twitch fest and learn from previous attempts style. even the first boss has attacks that just appear ontop of you. Honestly, is there wasn't 30 lines of dialog when I meet someone which with the script just annoyed me, i'd be more into it, but for $30, I really wish I had just never seen this game.
Better than Part 1
