Simple, cute and short 3D card roguelike. Not perfect, but you can spend 10-15 minutes having fun - that's how much time you need to finish the game if you won't play "endless mode"

"Kwyjibo Adventure" is a weird one. It's also an objective failure for reasons we'll get into later. The game's story centers on Emily, a new student facing school bullies. She discovers a magic yo-yo and uses it to confront them. The game portrays a transformation from a timid student to a confident protagonist, emphasizing inner strength. What do you do in the game? You engage in strategic turn-based combat using a magic yo-yo, fighting with a lightweight RPG/health system to damage your opponents. You perform yo-yo tricks to cast spells, using a console peasant children's toy because I guess the developer doesn't own a keyboard and mouse, or thinks we're all console peasants and PC is just a kind of console, right? Ugh. The graphics aren't great, a blend of really badly drawn MS-Paint comics and some low quality low poly assets... I mean, this isn't pixelcrap or an asset flip, but it's not winning any awards. That's understandably a turn off for a lot of gamers, and it's a big contributor to the failure of the game to attract gamers despite having no up-front cost. Kwyjibo Adventure is one of the more unusual roguelike ideas I have played recently, and I really liked the decision to build the combat around a magical yo yo. I play as Emily, a student dealing with bullying who discovers a strange yo yo that gives her supernatural abilities. I liked the contrast between the everyday school setting and the fantasy powers because it gives the story a surprisingly warm feeling. The turn based combat is where the game becomes most interesting. Instead of simply selecting an attack from a menu, I use the yo yo to perform tricks and spells while trying to outsmart groups of bullies. I enjoyed the idea because the weapon feels more like a tool I actually have to learn rather than another generic sword or spell book. The roguelike progression gives each run some variety. I earn buffs and upgrades after encounters, allowing Emily to become stronger while encouraging me to experiment with different combinations. I liked that the game gives me a reason to keep trying after a failed run because I can approach the next attempt differently. The visual presentation is another strong point.
