About Last Threshold

1962. Wiktor Staszewski, the son of a researcher exiled to Siberia, and his mentor set off on an expedition in the footsteps of their long-deceased father. Their task is to explore the mysterious ruins that until now were hidden under a thick layer of ice. It was them that became the cause of Wiktor’s father's obsession.

A team takes part in the expedition, in which each participant has a different approach to the expedition. When a Siberian native joins the team, tensions increase. The conflict within the group increases as the group reach the ruins. Fleeing the storm, they find temporary shelter in them. At least they think so ...

Main features:

- Old mystery in Chukchi land
- Hand-drawn graphics

Last Threshold is not a game, it's an e-book that's been dumped on Steam masquerading as a game. As a visual/interactive novel, this doesn't feature any notable gameplay, it's just a lot of clicking through badly written dialogue that would never have been accepted or published in print, which poses the question, "How did something this badly written end up on Steam?". When someone hoping to become an author is unable to get published in print, they spend $100 and dump their high school fan-fiction onto Steam, under the guise of a game. The developer decided to exhume H.P. Lovecraft and insult him before dumping him back in his grave here. Garbage E-books like this that despoil great works that have entered the public domain almost make me want to side with Disney on trying to kill the public domain completely. Anyway, this is basically a crap H.P. Lovecraft fanfiction, only set in Russia. As with most E-books on Steam, this is a picture book, because let's face it, e-books on Steam are written in a universally godawful way, so you might as well have some pictures to look at, right? (Yeah, I know, Steam isn't Instagram, and nor should it be, despite the efforts of these e-bo…

too short, choice no matter till the end. Still game has a good atmosphere and beautfiul arts. I wish steam has a mixed option for review. Still thumbs up, because I believe the studion can do something amazing with their upcoming next title.

A lovely little Lovecraftian VN! Hits all the right notes and I appreciated it being in an area of the world I know little about. Some minor English translation issues, but nothing that prevents understanding what's going on. Excellent art, especially the animations. I also appreciated the length. I prefer Lovecraft's short stories to his longer works, and this VN did not overstay its welcome. I found all the endings in my playtime and felt I got my money's worth. You'll spend more buying a paperback or a movie of the same length. In short, recommended.

This game got under my skin- very atmospheric with soundtrack and visuals suiting the tone of the story. I finished wanting to go again.
